2009 Toyota Camry-2.4L-158HP-4CYL DOCH
Just bought this yesterday. Beautiful car. Barcelona Red Metal Flake. Actually wife's new ride. New to Toyota. I own a 93 Infiniti G20 & a 96 Nissan Pathfinder. Had a few questions I would appreciate answers to.
1- At what mileage should I have the factory fill engine oil changed?
2- I have always done overkill on oil and filter change. Will probably do this car the same way. Is it worth using the TRD Japan Style High Volume Oil Filter or OEM or K&N, Mobil 1 EP, Pure One or Amsoil EaO?
3- It calls for 5W20. Any real favorites in regards to oil brands? I will use synthetic. Local dealer uses Castrol. Not sure if in bulk or quarts. They have both dino and synthetic at the dealer.
4- Gas. States that regular will do. I've always used premium in all my vehicles. Dealer I purchased it from said regular is all they put in any car. Thoughts on which octane level of fuel will be appreciated.
I have a 2006 camry with the same engine I use mobil one 5-30 extended performace and change it at 12,000 miles I also use the K&N air filter be careful when you clean the filter use the oil lightly or the mass flow sensor will get oil on the sensor wire and cause the car to run rough. I also took out the muffler system and put in a full flow muffler then I put in HID lights at about $450.00 and they really light up the road. Don't try and run snythetic oil in the transmission it is a new special oil call ws or world service and it tricky to change the oil in the trans it has to be done by a specialist or the dealer also the trans oil has to 115 degrees before you change it. You probably noticed no dip stick for the trans it is a drop and fill system. I also changed out my power steering using mobil one synthetic transmission oil I do it every 30,000 miles and I just changed out my antifreeze I just drain the block and radiator then I use the new antifreeze from toyota I never flush the system to keep it clear of hard water. Hope this info helps it came from may good toyota repair people over the years. My last toyota went 429,000 miles with the same engine trans power steering aircondition etc.

1. Any mileage up to 5,000 miles that you desire.
2. I use OEM and buy in qtys. of 10.
3. Wrong...0W20 or 5W20. oW20 will give marginally better gas mileage.
I believe synthetic is a waste of $$$$ for everyday driving unless you use extended oil changes which will void your warranty. If you are racing or want to run 1,000,000 miles, then synthetic is beneficial.
My oil change runs $8-9 with filter.
4. Another waste of money using anything except a Top Tier Regular.
My $0.02........
