Default Rear brake adjustment

I just picked up a 1996 Camry 4cyc with rear drum brakes. How does one adjust the rear brakes?

Do they have to be adjusted via the star wheels through the backing plate, Adjusted by backing up and applying the brake or are they like the tundra and adjust every time the parking brake is applied.

Thanks
