Re: 02 Camry
I also own a 2002 Camry. When my stock tires were somewhat worn, I decided to replace them at 35K, although they had some tread left, I didn't want to chance my wife on the highway with them during our frequent wet weather.
I replace them with a set of Yokohama tires which were very highly rated tires. From day one, I had a shimmy at speeds greater than 55 MPH and it sent vibrations thru the steering wheel that would numb your hands on long highway trips (say greater than 4 or so hours). Ride quality just sucked. Despite running the air pressure at recommended levels, rebalanced 4 times, checking the suspension, alignment, etc, the tire shop couldn't get any improvements. They credited me back the cost of the tires and I went with some Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S. You would not believe the difference. The ride, quietness and handling improvement was unbelievable.
I'm not saying this is your problem, but after my ordeal, I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I'm still not sure if the Yokohamas were defective or their construction didn't work well with the Camry but the Michelins still great after 30K miles on them.
Good luck...
