Default 1999 Toyota Camry LE Brake Job Cost

I was told that my 1999 Camry LE with only 31024 miles needs new brakes by the dealership that sold me the vehicle. They told me I need new pads and rotars in the front and brake shoes on the rear brakes. Total cost is $711.00. AAA repair shop owned by AAA quoted me a price of $477.00 plus tax for exactly the same thing. Outside of the OEM parts utilized by Toyota, why the huge price difference?

What should I actually be paying for a complete brake job?

your getting cheap parts....

I'm assuming they cant cut the rotors because of a rust issue.. if rust isn't a issue,, they should be able to cut (resurface) the rotors and replace the pads for alot cheaper...

Aftermarket brakes will cause tons of brake dust and squeeking noises and shakeing while breaking etc.. there are some good aftermarket brands,, but not the stuff aaa uses,, they use the cheapest of the cheap crap...

do what you can afford,, but they should be able to resurface them...

Also, if you do not get the Toyota part, your rotor hubs might start showing surface rust on them. You should be able to feel if you need new rotors due to warping and look at the pads to see if they need to be replaced. You really can't tell from mileage alone if the parts need to be replaced - some folks brake harder than others.
