Stereo problems (2009)

had the car about 2 months, 2k on the clock. Often times the stereo face wont light up (and wont play) but if you hit the '5' button it turns to static. If you load a CD then it fires (reboots) and works great, even after the CD has been ejected. Some days it works fine, others, not so much, happens more often lately. Thoughts on what it could be, short etc.
I would have already taken it to the dealer but the problem is random and never happens when I'm their proximity.

Tell them what goes on and when it happens or what it does and see if they will replace it or note it or something it can't hurt to see !
