Can you please let me know??? Can you tell the difference between your car's paint job and your mirror's after you have installed it???

#2 I need to find a place to install it... I have no clue how to do wirings around the car... i'm a total dummy!!! i wished it was just a computer, it would be a whole lot easier to disassemble, install and etc. for me.
I just bought three different silver cans and a clear coat can a couple years ago at an auto store when I did my front emblem change. I sprayed a sample on a piece of plastic and picked the closest match for my final paint coat, used the other cans for 1st and 2nd coats. Also used a fine wet sanding cloth between coats.

Then a couple light clear coats.

Just make sure the paint is suitable for plastic.

Takes a little time to get ready for installation:

you need wires identified on the mirrors, Service Manual pages printed of mirror removal, door panel removal, kick panel removal, electrical and connector diagrams, make a diagram of the pin hookups on both sides of the connectors, a plan for getting the 4 wires from the pass. door - up and above the glove box and across to the left kick panel.

I left the original factory 5 pin mirror connectors in place and tied into the wires upstream. Easy to go back to factory mirrors that way as the connector is still inside the door panel.

This will help a little: http://www.muthco.com/techsupport/pdfs/21001260.pdf

I can't locate my mirror wire ID that I made. Maybe it will pop up in my garage somewhere.

Be sure you have an installer that can plan and execute.

After everything is back together and tested, then and only then, snap your painted covers on................

I plan to pay about $100 for installationa and paint the darn thing myself... what do you think???

Painting cost $100/hr and takes about 2hrs... i call that BS. lol

I think it took me over 8 hours fro the installation and I prepared for a few hours before that (IDing wires, printing out instructions, planning, painting). Replacing the mirrors just takes a few minutes. Interior trim on and off is less than an hour. Running the wires, making connections, wiring connectors, testing, etc. takes most of the actual installation time.

You can have cheap and crappy installation or expensive and crappy.

I would never let anyone do mine...........but that's me.

I don't trust myself either! hahaha

Hey did you paint the covers only?? how about the connector to the car??
Is it possible to paint that as well?? of is it not recommended due to the mechanics of it?

NJerald!

I found a similar DIY installation of these mirrors but in a Yaris forum...
Do you think the same can apply to my car???

DIY: LED side mirror installation (partial) - Toyota Yaris Forums - Ultimate Yaris Enthusiast Site

Yes, if you can get the mating Toyota (Japan) connector and the pins, it will make your installation easier.

I had to cut off their supplied connector and buy two Radio Shack male and female 8 pin connectors to mate up with the existing and new wiring.
Njerald,

is this the connector???

Mine was 5 wires with mirror heating. Yours probably is 3 wires.

It only takes 2 minutes to take off a mirror and look at the factory connector.
