Default 2001 Camry Hard Starting

My 2001 4 cylinder LE w/ 195,000 miles has difficulty starting from a cold start in the morning. It will crank fine but will rumble and stop within a few seconds. On the second try at starting (worse case 3rd) it will start and run fine idling up properly then idling down to its normal idle after warming up. I do not think it is the IAC since it seems to control fine after starting. I am thinking of replacing the coolant temp sensor. Any other suggestions or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Are you due for a tune-up?

I keep on the regular maintenance items. Plugs, wires and air filter have all been replace in the last 10K miles. Since my post I tried cleaning the IAC on the car and the problem now occurs less frequently. This is now leading me to believe it is possibly the IAC being gummed up and getting stuck when it is cold. I will try removing the IAC clean in more thoroughly and see what happens.

You are on the right track with the IAC. The plastic gear inside may be stripped or gummed up.
