I have been a Tundra solutions member with my Tundra since I got it in 2000 and just picked up a amazing 2007 Camry SE 5-speed for my wife to match my 5-speed Tundra. Can't stand autos personally. The vehicle is perfect but I need to change my oil for the very first time. I have been using Mobil 1 since the early 80's around the time ARCO graphite oil left the market. Anyone remember that one? While picking up oil today I noticed the 0W-30 Mobil 1 for the first time today but got the Mobil 1 0W-20 because that is the weight recommended in the manual. Any opinions? I know they are both base 0W oil but would the 0W-30 be an issue?

Just reduced gas mileage...............
Use 0w20 or 5w20.

The MPG difference between a 0w20 and 0w30 oil in warm climates shouldn't be noticeable.
Most 30wts will shear to a 20wt to meet the long term MPG requirement anyway.

5 Speed, go with what the motor engineers recommend for your motor. They designed and tested it. You other guys are full of crap. A UOA only tests the oil used in one motor for wear. You can take the same model motor with the same brand and grade of oil and get different UOA's. UOA''s are not generalizations.

If you or a relative is in the US Military ... make sure you get ALL important info. (injuries & medical treatments) documented in your SMRs.
(Service Medical Records).
ALWAYS keep a COMPLETE copy of those SMRs in a secure place that you can access.
This is super important later when a "claims issue" or etc. arises.
Great site for beer guzzling oil changers with COPD. I've been; and I've read the questions and answers all generated by the same beer guzzling oil changers. I guess if enough people convince each other that they're right, they are! Or so they believe.
If you want the real truth, then go to a tribologist or lubrication engineering site.
I'm suggesting that you answer the OP's questions with fact not group conjecture. Did any of your references test the OP's engine with various lubricants? No. But some put slick 50 in their engines because Field Marshall Rommel used the original formula in his panzers. It must be good stuff.
The OP is gone and now so am I.

I am still here, reading all the comments. I guess what spurred the original post was that I could find the 0-30 at Wally World and not the 0-20 flavor in the 5 Quart Jug. I went to Kraigen and they had the 0-20 on sale for the same price so I put in what the Mfg recommended. Having a 2000 Tundra I don't know I even knew they made 0W - anything weight oil. That wasn't invented in 2000. I tell you changing the Camry oil is a lot easier than on the Tundra, can't get under it without a jack but getting to the oil filter on the tundra isn't fun.

IMO, maybe the links posted above are not of Lawrence-Livermore Nat'l Labs or NASA quality, but they do give some good info. & dialog.
Instead of criticizing & running off ... why don't you post some links to enrich us with your lubrication knowledge ?? ...
Links where we can see facts and forum (Q&A section) dialog would be great too.

5 speed, I don't have the owners manual, but I believe NJerald is correct. Check your manual and see what Toyota recommends if 0w20 isn't available. I would bet based on their ILSAC-GF-4 TSB revisions EG018-06, that it's 5w20 and not 0w30.
SOSHP, that's humorous because I've been a consultant to the Livermore labs since 1981. Try googling the terms in my 3rd sentence of the previous post. I realize you seem to want someone to spoon feed it to you but I find it difficult when you have your foot in your mouth.
