92 camty tranny problem - Toyota Tundra Forums : Tundra Solutions Forum

MY daughter and her husband were at the house looking for a towbar to junk her 92 Camry Because it wont move. It has 250,000 miles on it and the engine is still sound. She said it made a loud clunk and wouldn't move. I haven't done any work on cars since our 89 Corolla puked a rod. SO Iam not sure what to check first or should I assume like them the tranny is shot. I did manage to save it from the scrap heap for now.
ANy help is appreciated

Something broke. So, take a look at it. I've seen broken axles.... cause loud thunks. Maybe you'll get lucky and have to replace an axle. Maybe the shifter cable is broken and its stuck in park. Maybe its just low on ATF. If the vehicle is in good condition, a used salvage yard transmission is an option if something internal failed.
