CamryGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Camry.
This is a discussion thread titled "RS3200 Alarm Upgrade Install Instructions Available???", within the Camry forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
Do we have access to the RS3200 2002-04 Camry Alarm upgrade install instructions from Toyota for the knowledge base??
Enquiring minds want to know...why, 'cause I just bought the kit on ebay!
Happy to do a photo essay of the install when I do it if interested!
Brad
Brad, I may still have the instructions from my installation in our 03 Camry SE. I'll look for them if that'll help you. Our Camry had the key immobilizer set up but I wanted the whole package and got mine on e-bay also. Let me know if I can help.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????

Holy Cow...36 pages of instructions (Thanks, Glenn...I think...)
Larry, how did the install go...looks like a lot of the interior is coming out to do this???
This is going to be a little more complex than the Tundra RS3200 install...
Definitely more than the Tundra. Quite a few more dash panels and brackets to contend with. I have the console in ours and the instructions hinted that mine had to come out for installation of the GBS. I found after removing 1/2 of the console that my GBS got mounted at the lower part of the panel under the glove box. Mine already had the blinking indicator light as a part of the engine immobilizer system and the upgrade linked into it. Lot's of poking and pushing to get extra wiring into a place where the panels would fit back in. Take it slow and try think ahead as far as refit when placing the components and wires and it'll go well. I say this after mounting/attaching items then having to redo them later. The reason for all the pages is because the one set of instructions cover various build options on the Camry's so read more carefully than I did.

I did the install yesterday - about 4 hours but everything is working OK except the Glass Breakage Sensor - can't get it to go off and I set the sensor at 10 as directed in the install instructions.

Any thoughts??

Don't feel bad Brad my GBS wouldn't work either . It's been way too cold in my unheated garage to take everything apart till spring. I have no idea why it doesn't work but with the mic attached to the lower right dash panel I figured everything should be back together for a accurate resonance test on it.

It should work. How did you find out it dose not working?
What is the Part Number for you VIP RS3200+
Is 08586-3T850 or 08586-3T860? With factory TDS system only or factory keyless entry only. When you bought it they should ask you and price are not the same.
I have 2002 Camry LE V6 and a 2001 Highlander AWD V6 LTD. Both working good. DIY on 2002 Camry LE V6.
Tundrabrad,
I know this may be alittle late on the GBS going off but try moving the microphone to the left towards the drivers side on the lower cover panel but to right of the square opening, if you know what I'm talking about and point it at that square opening towards the drivers side window and when you test it hit the middle of the glass, sometimes it takes a good whack to get the alarm to go off even on 10.

The kit I got is a 08586-3T860. The car had keyless entry and the engine immobilizer key with chip security system from the factory. If I'd have hit the windows any harder with my key or Phillips screwdriver it would have broken. As it is the key actually knicked the glass. I'll confirm the wiring connections when it gets warmer. There were optional instructions for with or without the immobilizer security so that's the area I'll concentrate on.
Thanks, Larry

I think mine is assembled properly although a relocation of the mic may help. The Tundra mic is right on the dash panel and it doesn't work either!
I'll try the relocation and kick it up to 11 to see if that will help. The GBS ECU is buried pretty deep in the Tundra but I may try to change the sensor setting there too...

When you done the installation did you check all the Functional Verifications on Section III of Install Instructions? If all the Functional Verifications are checked and working but just GBS not working.
You may just need to
1)adjust as neccessary by increasing GBS setting to 11.
2)Make suer you did not cover the microphone with the foam tape ( see Fig. F2 page 16 of 36 pages in Section II - Installation Procedure).
3)check the connections in and out the GBS.
The area you concentrate on(with or without the immobilizer security). It is for engine control only.
I know my english is poor. I hope you know what I am talking about.
Everything else worked fine during the functionality checkout, just the GBS didn't. There is no obstruction to the receiving end of the mic and I even filed the edge of the lower dash panel to allow more open space to the mic face. Like I said I'll go back and confirm all the connections for the GBS portion as it gets warmer. Like Brad experienced my GBS doesn't work on my Tundra either so it's possible I have the settings to low on both.

I bought the RS3200 upgrade kit a couple of years ago and installed it on my Tundra. Like you all I never was able to get the GBS to go off during testing. But then again I just couldn't bring myself to keep hitting my glass with the keys. And I would prefer the thing to be less sensitive than going off all of the time. I have a feeling that all of our GBSs are working but we will never actually know until an actual entry by breaking the glass is attempted. It is just a hard sound to duplicate in testing.
