I am considering selling or trading in my 2003 Tundra Limited Access Cab for a 2005 Camry XLE with the 4 cyclinder. Have already driven one and liked it alot, the 4 seems to have nice pickup. The mileage for city driving is advertised as 24 mpg. Is that accurate? The dealer here is offering 10% off all Toyotas in stock this week. Thanks for any replies.

I didn't know Toyota offered the XLE with the 4 cyl...
We added a 2004 Camry LE 4 cyl to the fleet last year. You can generally purchase them well under list - we paid $15,998 and got a $1000 rebate last March.
We average 29-31 mpg on the highway. Haven't really done a city test but 24 mpg would seem reasonable. I am amazed the 154 hp engine can be that efficient!
I have a 2005 Camry with the 4 Cyl. We consistently get 25 MPG in the city (Mesa, AZ) and we got 34 on a trip PHX to Las Vegas and back. I had my foot in it both ways.

We love our Camry!

Actually the engine pumps out 157hp, it is quite a motor. I like the fact that it requires little to no maintenance, and what little maintenance it does require (spark plugs, oil/filter changes) is easy.

I would definatly agree with you.
Our 1992 4cyl XLE did exactly the same thing. I am sorry i ever sold it. But life dictated otherwise at the time.

I just traded my 04 LE 4cyl in on my Tundra last week. I had it for about 18 months. I ave 23-24 city and around 30 hwy ( 75-80 mph). I was impressed with how that 4 cyl pulled.
I have a 2005 Camry XLE with a 4-cylinder engine and was astonished with how good my gas mileage was. The around town mileage hovers around 24-25 mpg, but the highway economy is in the low 40 mpg range.
I carried 4 other people and all of our luggage from Provo, UT to St. George, UT last October, and got 42.2 mpg. This was with the air conditioner and cruise control on at an average speed 65-67 mph (freeway driving). On the return trip I got 42.1 mpg.
On another freeway trip I drove from Provo to Salt Lake City, with a stong tail wind, at about 67 mph and got 49.2 mpg.
I was so pleased with the gas mileage that I bought my wife a 2006 Camry LE. She's getting about the same mileage around town, maybe even a little better. It hasn't been on a freeway trip yet.
When I was shopping for my Camry XLE, one of the salesmen told me that people were consistently getting 37-38 mpg with the 4-cylinder engine, and I didn't believe him. My brother in New Mexico has a 2003 Camry XLE with the 4-cylinder and he always bragged about getting in the high 30's, which I didn't believe either. I would have been happy with 30 mpg when I first bought my XLE, and couldn't believe the computer when it went over 35 mpg the first time.
You can't beat the 4 cyl. Camry. We average close to 30 MPG with about a 60/40 highway/city drive. Last summer I drove from Central Arkansas to Niagara Falls, NY (over 1200 miles), drove it the whole week I was there, and drove it home and averaged over 36 MPG for the trip. We are very pleased to see these numbers

I've felt that a manual trans gets better fuel economy than an auto..., can you still get the 4 cyl in a manual trans ?
'07 manual, 24/34 mpg EPA
'07 Auto, 24/33 mpg EPA
with my '07 XLE 4 cyl auto, I have averaged 26.5 actual mpg for the first two tanks with 60% city driving. My 3rd tank is doing better per the mpg indicator and it should continue to loosen up.
