Default Spare tire help

Got a screw in the tire of my 2005 Camry SE-V6 yesterday. I put on the full size spare and got the flat repaired. Today I can't get the spare back in the trunk correctly . More specifically, I can't get any of the wheel openings (wheel stud holes or openings) to line up with the threaded boss on the bottom of the trunk well that the hold-down rod screws into. Shame on my for not paying closer attention when I pulled out the spare.

Anyhow, can anyone with a full-size alloy wheel spare give me a clue? I'm sure the outside of the wheel was facing up but beyond that, the mental image from yesterday is not clear enough for me to reverse the removal process correctly. How embarrasing.

Thanks.

Doesn't it just go through the large hole in the center of the rim?

Did you check the info in your owner's manual (pages 266 - 267)?

The center hole is covered by a pressed-in Toyota emblem. The picture in the owner's manual doesn't really help much but I do think the inside of the wheel has to be facing up. The cover of the spare tire well does not sit flat with the outside facing up.
