No Toyota factory system I am aware of has a pre-amp output and all have a 12pin CD changer dataport.

Does anyone know what brand is the factory stereo, Pioneer or someone else, so that I can find cd-charger? The basic LE has its only amp (small one, not JBL), hope it connects from pre-amp on the unit, not any kind of special data port..

On Toyota's web site, it doesn't specify what brand the standard CD reciever is but the upgrade is a JBL. I would also like to know this info, cause I would like to add some amps and a subwoofer, as well as replace the factory speakers. Any info would be appreciated.
Also, Toyota didn't make it very easy to replace the factory CD reciever, it's integrated into half the instrument panel. It reminds me when Ford built the radio into that large oval trim plate in the Taurus' years ago and it cost like $70 for an install kit! I hope there will be an easy solution to this!

Try this link, it should help you identify who made your unit. My JBL unit is made by Panasonic! Answer
frinally removed my factory stereo and it wasnt that bad...i'll take pics when i put it back together to make it easier to show...explaining it may take a while...
I have a 2007 Camry LE and was pretty unhappy with the CD/radio system. I ended up doing the following and I am extremely happy with the end result. This is the non-JBL, non-navigation system.
Kept the factory head but had an Alpine 4 channel amp mounted in the trunk. The shop that did the work was able to tie into the factory head unit. I have not talked with the installer yet to see if he was able to bi-pass the factory equalizer which boosts the bass at low volume and of course has the ASL. I'm pretty sure he sent the speaker feeds back to the truck mounted AMP so I bet the head unit’s equalizer is in use.
The driver’s door speakers are 6X9 or 5X7 with magnets that are about as small as I have ever seen. I'm amazed they sounded as good as they did. I put in some high end Alpine component speakers. The tweeters replace the dash mounted factory tweeters. There is an amazing amount of bass and at this point I'm forgoing a subwoofer.
Hope this information helps anyone that is also in the same boat as I was, which is I love the car but was extremely unhappy with the sound system. Total cost $740.
If there is an additional factory Amp it's still in there but bi-passed. I looked at the wiring diagram and there is not one indicated unless I missed it.
If anyone wants model numbers and such I would be happy to post them.
Check out this link, they make an install kit. Looks right, but the picture they have isn't very good, I'd call or email them and have them send some better pics. I would hope the color matches up well. Although they don't carry a wiring harness for the Camry, nor does anyone else. Without the wiring harness, it can be quite difficult to wire up the stereo.
Also, if you notice that in the pic it says 2006 Camry but below it says 2007....hmmmm....I don't like discrepancies!
After taking a closer look at that pic, something doesn't seem right....I have the manual climate control and I think the kit is for the electronic climate control?

What alpine speakers did you use, the type r's or the type s's. The type r's dont come in 6X9 in components. I have an '07 Camry also and Im seriously considering doing the same, the bass with the stock system is way too muddy and im not happy with the stock tweeters. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks alot.
