Want to replace foam backing on front seats in 2001 Camry LE 2.2L
I recently purchased a 2001 Camry LE 2.2L with over 177,000 miles on the odometer. It has been very well maintained--needed only new struts, alignment, and new tires. Interior looks good, but the foam backing--particularly on the driver's side seat--has very little resilience left. Driving it you feel like you are sitting on a board.
I'd like to replace the foam--it sells for around $140--but have no idea how the seat is put together. Anyone ever do this on their Camry? Degree of difficulty? I assume the seat should be removed from the car, which doesn't look all that hard, and then the cover detached from the base. Slip the old foam backing out, and reverse the process.
Re: Want to replace foam backing on front seats in 2001 Camry LE 2.2L
I also am curious about how to replace the foam on my driver's seat in a 1999 Camry, which is the same general design as the 2001. I do not know how to take apart the seat, but I have a Chilton's manual which I hope will help. My main question is where did you find the foam on sale? Once I have the foam I am sure I could figure it out. Did you have any luck in figuring this out?
