CamryGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Camry.
This is a discussion thread titled "Question about gas grade", within the Camry forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
I used gas grade 87 when I first purchased my Camry 05 last year and soon then I switched to mid grade 90. My question now is can I switch back to 87? The dealership said I should stick with the grade 90 so the car would perform better. Many friends of mine gave a different opinion. They said there would be no problem if I switch back to grade 87 because they had the same situation.
What do you think? All opinions and comments welcome. Thanks.

If it's either engine (I-4 or V-6) each one will run fine on 87 and no it doesn't hurt to switch around between octane ranges. The V-6 will perform better and possibly gain a little mileage but won't come close to recovering the extra cost over regular 87 grade gasoline. I've been through this with two Maxima V-6 DOHC SE's and the 03 Camry SE V-6 we have now.

If a combo of all these whizz bangs met their claims you'd have to syphon gas out of your tank every second day and sell the excess horsepower on the third????
