Default 07 Camry (Looking for Misc. Answers)

OK folks, I have no complaints about my 07 Camry...took delivery about 3 weeks ago and have 1000 miles thus far. Great car!

I do have some questions and would appreciate some input from the larger "hive mind"...

1) What's the deal with the oil filter? I mean, I've heard it's using a "cartridge type" filter and the people that I ahve spoken to seem to discourage your average do-it-yourself person from changing it.

1A) WHERE THE HECK IS IT?

1B) What kind of special tool do I need?

2) Is there any way to change the start-up message that crawls across the radio?

3) I've been thinking about adding body side moulding to the car but am concerned about the adhesive. Thoughts? Comments?

4) I've been thinking about adding the mud flaps to the car but their TINY (oh and not color-matched). WTF?

5) OK, can anybody else confirm that I'm not crazy here? Take a good look at the wheel wells for your REAR tires... It's fabric?!

6) BTW, I order a car cover from BIGSKYCARCOVERS and expect delivery in the next few days. It's a custom cover and compared to the other web-listed prices...very much in line (and no TAX or SHIPPING).

7) Does ANYBODY have any news on a bra for the 07 Camry? Can't seem to find anything out there.

8) Same as #7 above but for "mirror bra's"?

9) My dealer is telling me that the first service interval is at 5K miles! Huh? I was thinking about changing the oil (call it peace of mind or cheap insurance) in the next few days...at 1500 or less miles. Doesn't this see a little long for dino-based oil? OR...are they running synth oil in the V6's??? (Me, I'm a long time synth oil user and will be switching to synth after 1500 miles.)

That's enough for now.

Thank you all!

OK, I answered two of my own questions.

If you're interested in a bra, try looking here:
www.colgancustom.com

FULL BRA: P/N PR1430 (with opening for lic. plate) or PR1430.1 (no opening for a lic. plate) NOTE: Cost for the PR1430.1 is $20 more than the other

SPORT BRA: P/N SB569

MIRROR BRA: P/N ???(forgot to write it down)

BE ADVISED that these are not yet shipping to 3rd party resellers. If you want one you'll need to go to the manufacturer and order it directly. Also note that if you try and use their web site to fine the bra you'll never find it...it's listed on a page that lists NEW APPLICATIONS. They are currently quoting about 4-5 weeks for delivery (as of mid June 2006).

ENJOY!

Default Re your point #5

An internal Toyota booklet describes the rear wheel well lining as a sound absorbing felt - they describe it as a feature.

I thought that a partial refresh is in order...

1) What's the deal with the oil filter? I mean, I've heard it's using a "cartridge type" filter and the people that I ahve spoken to seem to discourage your average do-it-yourself person from changing it.
STATUS: CLOSED. Rcv'd an AMAZING set of DETAILED instructions from somebody. Let me know if anybody else wants these.

1A) WHERE THE HECK IS IT?
STATUS: CLOSED. See above...not so sure I want to even try doing this right now.

1B) What kind of special tool do I need?
STATUS: CLOSED. See above...not so sure I want to even try doing this right now.

2) Is there any way to change the start-up message that crawls across the radio?
STATUS: Just posted another thread on this specific topic...nothing yet.

3) I've been thinking about adding body side moulding to the car but am concerned about the adhesive. Thoughts? Comments?
STATUS: Nothing yet...waiting to see a Camry with this installed before I make the investment.

4) I've been thinking about adding the mud flaps to the car but their TINY (oh and not color-matched). WTF?
STATUS: Still only able to find the OEM (black) flaps. Was thinking about taking the flaps to a local repair shop and seeing what they would charge to paint them the same color as the car...oh and use paint that can take the flexing of the semi-soft surface.

5) OK, can anybody else confirm that I'm not crazy here? Take a good look at the wheel wells for your REAR tires... It's fabric?!
STATUS: Closed...yep.

6) BTW, I order a car cover from BIGSKYCARCOVERS and expect delivery in the next few days. It's a custom cover and compared to the other web-listed prices...very much in line (and no TAX or SHIPPING).
STATUS: CLOSED...great car cover. A tad bluky but not bad at all.

7) Does ANYBODY have any news on a bra for the 07 Camry? Can't seem to find anything out there.
STATUS: ALMOST CLOSED...Colgen's got the only game in town right now. Mine will be made and shipped on July 10. Waiting....

8) Same as #7 above but for "mirror bra's"?
STATUS: See #7 above. Again, Colgan makes them but they also said they are EASY to remove...

So...just a quick update.

Thanks everybody!
