Default Shaky Steering Wheel

Hello all,

I just picked up my 07 Camry SE 4 cylinder in Magnetic Grey. Let me just say that it is beautiful. It is so pleasing to the eye. That being said, I noticed on the way home from the dealer that the steering wheel was shaking quite a bit. Now, maybe I was just sensitive to driving it for the first time, but it seemed to be vibrating/shaking more than other cars I have driven. Has anyone experienced this? Am I just oversensitive to the new car?

No you're not overreacting. A new car should not shake like you say it does - the car needs any one or combination of the following: wheel balancing, tire rotation, alignment or a tire or two replaced.

Talking Re: Shaky Steering Wheel

I bought a 2007 Camry for my wife 2 months ago. Took it back the following day to have an alignment. Took it back last week to have the tires balanced. Now it rides and drives like it was supposed to have driven from the beginning.

We have a 2005 which developed a steering wheel wobble after 8,000. It was at slow speeds, took it into the dealer
and they rotated the tires, which was a quick fix. I'm sure
when those tires end up on the front I will again have a wobble.
I did notice that the wheels are not balanced. But after
a 1700 mile trip to Ohio and back she rode, and drove like a charm. We got 32.3 miles per gallon at 70 - 80 miles per hour not an ideal speed for good gas milage but we sure got it. My only wish is that the car had better tires that could handle better. I noticed that on the 07 Camry they are a wider fatter tire and it seems to have a wider stance.
When we traded in our 1994, 6 cylinder, Camry I was really leery of the 2005, 4 cylinder but I can say 2 less cylinders increase the gas milage but it still goes like a bat out of Hell.
