Default Break in period

This question may have been asked before, but here I go anyway. I just picked up my new 07 Camry and the salesman that I bought the car from said that I do not need a "break in" period, like keeping the car at or below 60 mph for the first 1000 miles and not braking too hard. He said the car is already broken in and those so called "break in" periods are how things used to be. Then, I checked out my manual and it told me the opposite, that I should break it in. Can anyone give me some direction with this? Thanks.

In a way they're both right. I wouldn't go and start racing the thing, but babying it too much also isn't the best thing. I had a 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V and the manual said the same thing. The dealer told me the opposite. I went the middleground and drove aggressive but not overkill. It allowed the rings to seat higher for better performance. I just bought an '07 Camry and just driving normal, but also avoiding heavy braking and hard acceleration. I don't baby the thing though. If you want to believe one or the other though...go with the manual since you have it in writing

What did the manual say the break in period should be for the 07 Tundra?
