Had a Hidden Hitch brand trailer hitch installed on my 2007 Camry XLE.
It installs nicely and is not as visible as the Draw Tite brand I had on my 2003 Camry SE.
Too bad the 2007 Camry towing capacity is limited to 1000 pounds !

I put a Hidden Hitch on my '05 Gen 5.5 and I am very pleased with the install and appearance. Did you run the wire harness? If so, did you mount it near the hitch? I installed mine mainly for a bike rack (I have a big 'ol spoiler), but would like to "finish" it by mounting the wire harness. For now it is just tucked into the trunk. I can't seem to find an easy way to run the wire to the outside. On the bright side, I have a new appreciation for how weather-tight my trunk is! If nothing comes up, I may just remove the harness altogether since I don't plan on towing much.
Yes, I have the wiring harness. The cable is just rolled up and bound with a twist tie - inside the trunk at the point of the driver side tail light. My 02 was better in that regarrd, there was a hard felt light bulb access cover behind which I could conceal the bound wiring.
What made you choose the Hidden Hitch? From what I can find out on the web, the installation of Hidden Hitch (and Draw-Tite) involves drilling holes in the spare tire well. I don't think I want to do that. Several other hitches' installations don't put any holes in the body.
I talked to two outfits who had installed hitches on my previous Camrys.
The Hidden Hitch variety seemed to be less prominent so I chose that route. My previous one, a Draw Tight (I think that was the spelling) was more visible.
Hi I also have a 2007 Camry and I am interested in putting a hitch on it. I found some hitches where you have to drill through the trunk under the spare tire. Did you have to do that? Could you also give me some close up pics of how the hitch was mounted to the car.
Elmo, I did not instal the hitch, a hitch dealer did. Unable to provide pics as I would need to have the car on a hoist. I have however attached the instruction.
Hope this helps.
Dave
Thanks for sending me those instructions Dave. I actually ended up buying the hitch and installing it myself, and the installation was pretty easy. All I had to do to install it was remove an existing bracket, lower the muffler, and remove some clips that hold the bumper panel in place. I could then get the hitch into place. I used the existing weld nuts on the frame, and had to drill two holes in the spare tire well in the trunk to hold two stabilizing bars in place. This whole process took me around an hour. The instructions I received with my hitch were the same as yours, since it seems that only one company makes many of the hitches on today's vehicles.
Well done. Hopefully the hole in the well does not harm the integrity re water penetration. I did not watch as mine was done so I Don't know if they used rubber washers or something similar to keep the water out.
Dave
I don't think water penetration will be a problem. Between the large washers you put on each side of the tire well and the hard foam lining (it said in the instructions to scrape it away but we left it anyway), you will not get any water in.
I have a 2007 Toyota Camry SE. I have had Hidden Hitches in the past on my trucks, now I am considering one for my Camry.
Question 1: Does anyone know how if the Hidden Hitches will fit on an SE?
Seems like I've seen a few on the internet that say they fit SE's, and some say they fit all Camrys (Except SE's)
Question 2: I'm leaning towards a Hidden Hitch, and the dealer in my area is a Draw-Tite dealer, and tells me that I have to wait 2-3 weeks for a Hidden Hitch, ($6 dollars more) but Draw-Tites are in stock. When he was pushing me to get a Draw-Tite, I mentioned that I have read Hidden Hitches are more hidden than Draw-Tite, and he said maybe a long time ago, but now that the same company owns Draw-Tite and Hidden Hitch, they are identical. I'm still leaning towards waiting the two weeks for the HH, or buying it online.
What do you guys think of him saying they are identical, is that BS, and he's just trying to sell Draw-Tites?
Question 3: They want $100 to install the wiring harness, has anyone tried this on their own? I would consider putting the hitch on myself, but don't know if I want to attempt electrical work.
