CamryGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Camry.
This is a discussion thread titled "2007 Camry LE 4cyl problems", within the Camry forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
I just bought my 07 Camry LE 4cyl about 6 months ago. I start noticed many major problems already. I'm not sure you guys out there noticed it too. Please let me know. I will take it to the dealer soon.
Problem:
* Automatic Transmission Problem - Jerk sometime between from 2nd to 1st gear when stopping sometime. Sometime I floor my gas pedle it won't down shift around 50 mph.
* Front suspension - Make clunk noise when over parking bump around 10 mph. Everyone out there please try that.
* Rear brake pad squeak - I got 18,000 miles on this 07 camry and never have any brake job done, so I did a tires rotation myself and noticed rear brake pad has 9% left. Front brake pads has 90% left. This is very odd, usually the front brake pads wear out sooner than the rear brake pads. Everyone please check your rear brake pads it wear out very quick.
The car is under warranty. Get it in the shop to get these items addressed. You may have a bad front strut which can be replaced. The rear brakes may have been out of adjustment - again, it's not normal, but you may get that covered as they shouldn't wear out at 18K miles. They can also check out the transmission. More people are having transmission issues than they should.
Caution, you will get a lot more from the dealer if you have a positive attitude. "I really like the Camry and your service to date. I just don't understand how the rear brakes..." instead of "this is the worst piece of...and I'll never buy another...".
why do people w/no posts register on a forum to complain about problems? As far as i'm concerned someone could easily be making this up, for a # of reasons.
I went to the dealer the other day regarding the rear brake bad. They told me the brake pads are tear and wear parts and not under warranty.
I just bouth a new set of rear brake pads and install on my 07 camry and start tracking my mileage to see how to soon they wear out. I will show my parts receive to the dealer. I want them to take this very seriously.
I have a similar problem with rear brake pads on my 2005 Camry SE. At 16000 miles, the front brake pads have 75% left and the rear brake pads have 30% left. It is a little bit better than your case, but it is also unusual. I guess it may be a problme with EBFD. Anyone has comments on this?
And while at the dealer they said that the clunking from the front suspension was...... ??
And the transmission problem was..... ??

I just bought a new 07 Camry LE 4 cylinder. I hear noise coming from the front end/passanger side when I go on reverse or drive. It doesn't happen all the time. I brought it to the dealer where I bought it from, they can't seem to find any noise after I left the car there for 1 day. I decided to leave it again tomorrow for another day. I'm going to personally drive over there in the morning and try to duplicate the noise to them. Any one have the same issue? And Anyone knows what should I do if they still can't find the problem? or If I can't duplicate the sound to them? Please help.

The clunking noise is most likely from the strut bearing. I had the same problem coming from the right front strut. The only thing the dealer did was tighten the bolts on the strut.... Today i decided i wanted to go at it myself, and when i opened up the strut, the bearing was completely thrashed and all the metal balls fell out... but yeah the toyota dealer claimed nothing was wrong....
VERY strange. Somehow after the breakin period, the noise went away afterward. Another question, have anyone tried to change the oil filter on the new 07 Camry's? I replaced mine and a friend. It seems like the person who put the car was asleep. The oil filter would not come out the normal way. I had to take the front passanger tired out and slowly turn the oil filter so I can remove it and put a new one in. It's was soo tight.

The filter was tight but no problem with the right tools..............
