I'm sorry but as some other esteemed members have indicated...this is all advertising!
YOU alone need to make up your own mind...what you like or dislike...how much (or little) you want to pay...how long (or short) amount of time you'll be keeping the car.
Then you should factor in things like average cost of ownership over time...average likelihood of repairs (and cost)...trade in value.
All of this should direct you to your own decision.
Some quick comments on that info-mercial from Ford.
- Hmmm, let's compare a 4 wheel drive car to two industry leader cars with 2 wheel drive
- OK, let's put people of dubious driving ability behind the wheel of these cars and then let them try to explain their impressions of the car's ability to enter / exit from a turn...brake...oh I'm sorry...
- Hmmm, I know I ALWAYS listen to people when they tell me that this car is better looking than another...darn...I need to remember to pick-up my leisure suit from the cleaner this afternoon!
- Don't forget to factor in things like...hmmm, Ford is going thru some REALLY tough $$ times right now and they are putting a considerable number of their "eggs into the basket" named "Fusion"!
OK...I'm done

When a company puts their competition front and center to try to prove they are better, well that often says it all. It's the old "hey look at me I'm better than the established leaders" blah blah. Nice try but no.
Fair? It's just advertising from a company trying to get a leg up on the competition. Ask the same people how much they like the car when it starts falling apart in a few years.
True? That depends upon how you define that term. Pay me enough money and I'll design an survey to prove that chickens have lips.
Opinions are like ELBOWS. Everybody has one. I think that this is a bad representation of Car and Driver's readers. If you selected 1000 everyday car-driving people, gave them a week with the Camry and then the Fusion, that the Camry would win out. If the Fusion drove and handled better, then they must have had a top of the line Fusion and a 4 cyl. base CE Camry. If the Fusion won, the cars weren't equally equiped .

^So, that means you'd pick the Fusion over the Camry also?

No, no, no! The last Camry and current ones look great inside and out and would be picked first over the Fusion no matter what the situation. The Fusion's front looks like it took styling cues from the first G35 sedan. The rear looks like a '92-96 Prelude with aftermarket taillights. I guess immitating designs can be considered "Bold" moves.
Let me help you out in this one. Its really very simple-
- Fusion - Why would you even consider it? It is a FORD. ANY American made care is trash and depreciates greatly over time. Plus, every Ford car and truck experiences huge quality issues and recalls. DO NOT waste your money.
- Accord - This is a good car, period. The issue is that half of America owns it and the body styling is very drab to say the least. The quality you cannot question but the big one is the "real" mileage cannot touch a Camry.
- Camry - I am biased because I own a 2007. I looked at a 2007 Accord EX but it was $3k more than my Camry and the styling was "blah" - When I spoke to Accord owners, their major complaint was the mileage was very low, around 17mpg in town and 23 highway (3 cylinder option)
So bottom line is simple, it personal preference and between the Accord and Camry. Do not even try to compare the quality of these two models to the Fusion because the Fusion is junk (Ford).
