Wink Deals can be had in Ontario!

I will be picking my CrewMax Limited 4X4 on Tuesday. I contacted approx. 10 dealers for a price....all but 3 wanted MSRP! I was able to work out a deal for $2200.00 off. The salesman was straight up and easy to deal with. I will provide more details on those dealers after Tuesday when I have the truck in my possession. Thanks to those who helped me with my truck search.

Of course there are deals to be had, lots of Tundras too. It's a fantastic vehicle. I pray for you that it doesn't end up with any first model year issues like most do, ie, my 2005 Tacoma. Having been a Toyota owner for many years, I can say that Toyota does act quickly to rectify problems. They make sure they fix it right when something does come up as opposed to a knee jerk reaction. They have a lot riding on this new truck so, you care be sure they're listening. I was reading on Truck Trend about the concern over cam shafts letting go, also less then glowing NHSTA crash test review on crew max. I take all that with a grain of salt. Truck needs to be on the road for more time to get a better feel for stuff. I got a smoken hot deal from my dealer on my 2007 Tacoma recently. You did the right thing by shopping around. The more you know, the better equipped you are to deal and know when you're getting a good one. Congrats. You'll be please beyond believe when you get it.

btw, I'm from Toronto!

Marcel

Well I picked up the new truck today. I ended up buying it at AUTOLINE Toyota in Niagara Falls ("Randy"). The other dealers that I had dealt with were Welland Toyota and Heffners in Kitchner/Waterloo area. They were all helpful and eager to sell at a discount ($2200 off). However, Randy was the only one to come through for me and find me my truck (dealer trade).

I cant say enough about the truck....I love the interior/exterior and have no COMPLAINTS....yet. From past experience with "new design" vehicles, I realize that they usually come with some flaws but that is what the warranty is for. I cant wait to rack on the miles

Here in Eastern Ontario I found Petawawa Toyota to be the best and easiest to deal with.

Most dealers wanted MSRP.
Others would discount from $1000 to $1500 but then added itching as non negotiable extra cost pretty well cutting the discount in half in some cases.
Petawawa best price put everyone too shame and all I had to ask was what is your best price. There was no need to haggle. No hardnosed pressure to buy options extras etc. Just friendly attention to making the sale as pleasent experience as possible.
The worst dealer for pure hardnose sales pressure has to go to Kingston Toyota which made lots of promises but short on follow up.
Salesperson bad mouthed all other dealers including Toyota Dealers labelling them as liars including Toyota Canada itself.??? Heavy handed sales tactics from beginning to end. Demands credit card deposit prior to sales price agreement as I was told so as not to waste the time of the sales manager.

If considering buying the 07 Tundra I would suggest everyone should give Petawawa Toyota a shot the sales treatment from beginning to end superior to everyone else. Plus as in my case a deal saving $$$$ no other dealer even came close to this even after adding in travel cost there and back.

The USA may have incentive programs which Canada does not. Which may lead some to consider crossing over the border to buy however Petawawa Toyota might change your mind to give them a visit instead.

So....the big question is when is Toyota going to offer the 0% financing they are offering in the US....that's a $5-8k savings!!!! I"d be heading to Calgary tomorrow to see TSK!

I wish they offered it on my truck.

I leased mine and it was 3.9% and based on what I'm seeing at the dealerships, that's pretty good.

Some of the American's have mentioned they are offering rebates on the new Tundras too. I haven't seen any yet.

U.S. dealers respond quickly – within hours – to e-mails, thus, you can start searching for best deal using e-mails. I’ve heard that most Canadian dealers do not respond to e-mails at all. Thus, I presume, you have called all these dealers by phone, is this correct presumption?

Actually
Email and IN person.
My commitments take me by most dealer locations in Eastern Ontario
So I have visited most in person.
In person is the best measure of dealership and service.
I have emailed some and have had most responsed.
And yes some never got back to me which suggests they still sell the old fashion way and are missing out on their full sales potential.
Their loss.
As to Petawawa Toyota.
The moment I walked on the lot the buying experience was more relaxed.
It was suggested to me that maybe because the dealership is only Kms from one of Canada's largests military bases that there is already enough stress in everyone lives.

Thank you for clarifications/experience!
Judging by contents of Web Sites, Petawawa Toyota would be one of the last places I would go/call. Therefore, your info is so valuable.

Question Re: Deals can be had in Ontario!

It really is to bad more people would not come forward with their experiences.
Would make the buying process better over all.
Putting the advantage on the side of the purchasers as it should be.
What I found about Ontario dealers in general when it comes to Internet sales and websites they are behind the times.
As to Petawawa it is a full size dealership with the new building as being seen elsewhere.
It is on the fringe as one would say to all the major centres in Eastern Ontario.
However close enough to be within an easy drive
The difference in price I found more then made up for it.
Time is money and we have to work long hours to get it.
So the time spent if one was to consider the savings as a hourly wage for me was like making around $ 400 dollar an hour after taxes. So consider this if someone was to offer you $400 dollars an hour after taxes for 1 days relaxing easy work for 8 hrs but you had to drive to Petawawa to do so. To me it is no brainer
