Make sure you watch them doing the install, maybe make a mark on your old ball joints to ensure they put new ones on.

I doubt they would try to sneak one past you, but you never know.

I have to go to the dealership this Friday, so I'll get on their case.

I'll tell them the easy way is to just order the part, the hard way is to do what you did, and that I'm prepared to do it.

Got under the truck and it was easy to see that the ball joints were replaced.

Chalk it up as 1 win for the little guy ;-)

I was in at the dealer recently, they said to sit tight, the parts are on back order and when I get my letter to come in.

They didn't deny that the trucks have a recall.

I imported my 2005 Tunda Acess cab 4x4 at the end of March. Called Toyota USA re: Recall clearance letter {required for Fed Compliance Inspection for RIV(Canada)} and was told about the BJ recall. Before calling ToyUSA I called a local dealer in Henderson, NV, who LOL when I asked about the BJ recall. He said the parts were back-ordered 6-8 wks and I would be lucky to get the recall done in 3 mo! The ToyUSA rep heard my story and wanted to get the BJ recall done before I drove the truck to Canada. He tried to get a special demand order for the parts and also phoned the dealer I had spoke to earlier to arrange for an install of the parts. Within 24hrs, he called back and told me he was unable to get the parts within the 2 day period I had before I had to return to Canada. 10 mins after his call the dealer called and told me another customer's BJ parts were available to use (the customer wasn't scheduled to get the recall done for 1 wk). Talk about great service!! Within a 72hr period the recall was done and we were on our way I have nothing but praise for TOYUSA and the dealer! They both went "an extra mile" to satisfy a customer. The dealer also faxed all required docs to US and Canadian customs to facillitate our exit/entry, for no $charges.
Would I import a vehicle using this dealer again + ToyUSA? In a heartbeat!
I see so many neg comments in these forums re: dealers and Corporate HQ that I wanted to tell a experience! It can happen to U!
Just my 2cts worth, a little patience goes a long way!

Talking Re: Ball Joint Campaign - Canadian Version

When I had my 03 Tundra, I got the letter advising me to come in and have my lower ball joints replaced. And I had them replaced long before I traded up to my current 07 Tundra

Sanosuke!

TOYOTA CANADA: Service > Owner Info > FAQ > Customer Service
Call these folks and tell them you want your truck fixed before the front wheels buckle under! open a complaint if they act clueless!
Guys this was a known recall not a TSB if ya have questions call Toyota Canada, that SSC says ALL Toyotas not just USA Toyotas! nothing in the document mentioned just USA Toyotas!
