Default Ball joint recall

I was recently at my local Toyota dealer, where the service manager said the recall for the Tundra (and others) ball joint wasn't effective for Canada.

Has anybody taken their vehicles in for the recall, or received anything in the mail for that matter?

I have taken my truck in for the recall and it was effective for my Tundra. The steering feels a lot more stable, too.

I would go ahead and get the recall done on your Tundra if I were you.

I later discovered that my 04 was built later in the year, after the defect had be detected, they replaced them for a different reason.

Hey Sanosuke,

Did you recieve a recall notice from Toyota or did you simply bring the truck in and they did the recall?

I called Toyota and they told me that unless I recieve a letter from Toyota, they will not do the service work. My Tundra is an 06 and I have had to have 2 alignments on the truck in that time. I am seriously wondering if this has something to do with those ball joints.

Thanks,

XCaddis

This thread was in response to the previous recall, which affected the 2002 to 2004 trucks, you will notice the response dates were quite some time ago.

With regard to the most recent recall, 2004 to 2006 trucks, I asked at my local dealer and they speculated that the Canadian trucks won't get done until the American recall is completed or until the supplier can catch up with the parts demand.

Here's a link for the Transport Canada recalls

Vehicle Recalls On-Line Database

When I first approached my dealer, this recall notice was not on the Transport Canada website.

I'm going to call my local dealer tomorrow, I'll ask about the recall, and if they give me any problem I'll print this letter and take it directly to the service manager.

Ya...it is interesting...Toyota Canada says my vehicle isnt on the recall list, but the document on the National Transportation Safety Website has my VIN on record as one of the affected vehicles.

I have a feeling I am going to have a fight on my hands here...

Anyone else with the same issue?
