Default Ontario Members - Where ya Frum? Whatcha Got?

Seems there's a fair bit of activity on the forum from American members, Canadians seem to be a little more hit and miss, and I think its because they have more members but I think its because they have a greater interest in modifications.

Most of the Tundra's I see (north of the GTA), tend to be bone stock, no lifts and huge tires, or anything of that nature.

Maybe we are just boring Canadians, or the cost of living here is so high, that most of us are mortgage poor.

So I decided to start an Ontario thread, see what part of the province you are from, and most importantly to share info on where to buy stuff for our trucks without importing from other states/province.

So, where are you from and what mods have you done to your truck if any?

Living in GTA (Scaborough), waiting for 2007 Tacoma access cab 4x4 with TRD off road opions and is indigo ink ... dark blue... It should be here on Oct 20/06, just a few more dayzzz... I did own from new a 1982 pick up SR5 long box in black, 3" suspension lift, 33" BFG mud terain 6,000 warn winch and front bumper... ya I loved that truck. I was living in norther BC and there is a lot of logging roads, mud, sand, rocks, fishing and hunting... Oh ya and lots of willows on the roads, trails that full size trucks would not go on, ya I had lots of custom lines in the paint. It`s a truck not a car, more fun too. have fun CC

Do you have any plans for wheeling?

There's some maps you can get at Canadian Tire, trail guides, a friend of mine has a Jeep and has gotten a lot of use from them.

Ok got my new taco with the six speed and no problems, just the crapy weather we have this time of the year. An other salesman told me a year ago he had ordered a truck like mine with the 6 speed stick and it took 6 months to come in. Seems Toyota have been quiet about the problems that I have read about the clutch vibration. I still have to check out Canadian Tire for some trail maps. I have some 4 wheeling Jeep friends in Halliburton area I still need to go see. That and I need to put some Kilometers on (miles) the engine.
Have fun wheeling

Haliburton has some hard core trails. There are some good ones out near Bowmanville too.

2005 DC 4X4, live in Ottawa. Up graded my stereo, put bigger tires, thats about it.

Would love to lift it, but because of all the driving I do with her, I'm afraid of wrecking the ride. That was a strong selling feature of this truck.

Pulls my 5000 lbs boat better than any Ford or Chevy I have owned the past 5 years.

I was just in an aftermarket place in Newmarket, a 2.5 inch suspension lift was pretty cheap. I wouldn't mind getting the front lifted so I could put bigger tires on.

I towed a boat from Belleville to Toronto, its in my pics, and I didn't find it towed very well. Above 90km/h it made the truck sway a lot. Probably an aerodynamics problem because the boat is wedge shaped.

Holly crap! Whats that boat weigh? Only a single axle trailer . If you don't have a rear sway bar, I highly recomend one!

What make was the lift? I too would like to lift so I can wrap 285's around the rims.

Are you not going to lift the rear too?

I'll have to check the make of the lift.

I wasn't going to lift the rear because I'm not sure I need it. The truck seems to be fairly low in the front, so a front lift might just make it level.

Another reason for not lifting the rear is because the rears don't turn left and right, so I should be able to go with bigger tires back there without any rubbing.

If the front sits higher, then I might add an inch in rear.

The trailer I was towing was double axle.

Opps, my bad, thought it was a single.

I agree with the rear being lower than the front looking silly. Level is fine.

Hey, how about us western Canadians! There are some heavily modded trucks out here, especially out in B.C. I just have a 2.5" spacer lift, 1" rear block, 265/75r16 BFG's and a magnaflow muffler. Oh.... also an access roll-up cover, Toyota hood deflector and Bushwacker bed rail and teilgate cover. So, I'm not heavily modded yet....but give me time.

I'd never leave any Canadian behind! I might become a transplant to Alberta.

I'm visiting Edmonton right now, saw a red Double Cab, with some big @ss tires on it. Most of the others were stock.

I'm seriously considering a lift for some bigger tires this summer. Some sort of bull bar on the front, would be nice to get some extra light at times.
