Question Canadian mpg vs US mpg?

Hi, this is going to seem like a dumb question but....When I calculate my tundras mileage I do this: (km/1.6) / (litres/4.546) = miles per Imperial gallon.
Wouldn't that be way off from the US people? Calculating in US comes to (km/1.6) / (litres/3.785) = miles per US gallon. 4.546 is litres in an imperial gallon. 3.785 is litres in a US gallon. So when the US forum members quote they're mileage wouldn't we have to account for this in our comparisons? I took (425 km / 1.6) = 265.625 miles. That is the same for both conversions. Now 75 litres / 4.546 = 16.5 Imp. gallons. 75 litres / 3.785 = 19.8 US gallons. So the canadian mpg would be 265.625 / 16.5 = 16.1 mpg. The US mpg would be 265.625 / 19.8 = 13.4 mpg. So when the US folks are quoting mpg's of 15 mpg in CANADIAN that's a whopping 18.1 mpg. Right?
Tell me I'm wrong, please? Because now I'm even more distressed about my tundras mileage. lol BTW 1 US gallon = 0.833 Imperial gallon.... strangely similar to our dollars huh .

That's a whole lot of calculating for my little brain.

You could always go to

Unit Conversions

The conversion table calculates 15 mpg US to 18.01, not 18.1

If you use the site

I get about 650 km per tank, filling it takes 95 litres.

Litres/100 would be 95/6.5 = 14.6

The conversion table turns this into 16.1 mpg U.S. and 19.4 mpg Canadian(rounded)

I'm not sure if this helps.

How many Km per tank do you get?

My tundra is a US model stepside 4.7L. I have been calculating gas costs per mile and in kilometres too. I am consistantly getting 19.5 mpg and most of my driving is highway at about 2100 rpms. I do have some difficulty keeping my foot "out of it" from time to time.

Hi toy#4, I find I get about the same as you do on highway driving, though if I keep it down at 2000 as much as i can (even on acceleration) I get close to 22 then.
