Default Give me some marketing ideas...

Toyota Canada have pledged their support for dealer-level "grass roots" marketing for the new Tundra.

They want to get the truck out in public events where people can try it "hands-on".

As a truck owner or buyer, what type of situations a/o events would you like to see the Tundra placed in for maximum effectiveness?

I have a few ideas I'm working on... I'll update as they develop.

Thanks

There are the obvious ones like Stampede, Grand Prix in Edmonton, various Music Fests around BC/AB.

Other suggestions: How about renting a Chev/Dodge/Ford/Titan and having a demo day somehere where guys can sit in all 5 (make sure they are optioned the same...a Chev LTZ or Sierra Denali say since those are my other leading contenders (still behind the CM Ltd of course ).

How about getting one set up as the "on location" vehicle for a local radio station. Around here they always have an optioned up Hummer, fancy SUV, etc. that they have radio personalities driving around for their on location brodcasts from community events....would be good exposure.

Tell Toyota Canada to offer the CM Ltd in Salsa Red for 08, with a real remote starter and flip up/easy remove (a la minivans) back seats....then I'll buy one for sure and I can drive it around making everyone want one .

Don't let Driving Force have too many...part of the appeal of the Tundra vs. Domestics is the fact that their won't be 5 of them on my street!!

Here in Toronto, we have a massive Bass Pro Shop. As you know, BP and Toyota are in cahoots. Toyota has a big dirt obsticle track set up in the parking lot of the BP. There are hills, off camber side hills, logs, all kinds off stuff. They have every Toyota Truck and SUV for people to try out. It's awesome. I've done it a few times. They actually run the vehicles at 35 degrees side lean. It's pretty scarey when you haven't done that before. That pretty much tells all when the company is willing to let any joe blow try the trucks out in that environment. Best ad campaign, hands on!

Anyway, as for Toyota Canada...having owned three Tacomas....here are a couple of suggestions.

1. power moon roof
2. get rid of those ugly *** dog chow floor mats
3. interior plastics (the dotted black stuff) make it so that it doesn't scratch so easy
4. move the exhaust crossover above the tranny cross member so it doesn't get crushed when you take the truck off road
5. teach dealers how to do a proper undercoating (ie, don't tar the crap out of my spare tire, take it off!!)
6. plug and play remote starter, get off the green thumb bs, we're in Canada, we need it, you only sell a fraction of trucks here so you aren't going to kill the environment, just our trucks when they're not warmed up properly in the -30C temps
7. stock the f'n accessories, no excuse on this one, something as simple as all season floor mats, b/o, they are now and were in 04 when I got my 05 truck, I half way understand, but don't understand why they can't give accurate eta, get a new supplier! tier 1 suppliers are a dime a dozen
