well technically, everything is removable... For some reason, it seems that certain Matrix and Vibe variations have these rotors that don't come off like normal rotors.
Maybe for the VIBE, but not the MATRIX.
Here is the only TOYOTA PDF of the brake components, for all MATRIX.
The rotor should come off like all the others. Its either very very rusted or someone welded it on.
Toyota has not used a PRESS apart rotor/hub on any CARS since about 1982 or so.

I'll send that doc on to my uncle (thanks for that, btw)... but I swear there was no visible seam between the rotor and the hub. It'll be awhile (probably a couple years) before my uncle attempts to do the Matrix brakes again.

Your welcome. Please realize I am not trying to be a jerk about this.,I just want you to have the best info out there, and don't want you to have to do anything that isnt needed(extra work). That wastes your time and money.
Have a great weekend I have been with Toyota a long time and remember PDI'ing those vehicles and if they had NON removable rotors anytime since 2003 when they came out I would have seen one by now, and it should be in the TOYOTA data base.
I'm done rambling.....sorry

Ah, I didn't think you were trying to be a jerk... that's pretty rare on these boards... It's just frustrating when everyone tells you how something should be and it just doesn't seem to be that way. It's probably just rusted on, but man... it was really solid and it didn't seem that doing anything (short of damaging the rotor) was working to get that thing off.
AND YES, I have used a HAMMER (3LB sledge) before to remove the rotors. They were so rusted that it didnt matter if I damaged them. I wouldnt trust the integrity of the rotor anyways if its that rusted on, who knows what the rest of the rotor is like.
You could also find a place to machine them "ON THE CAR", which does help keep the warping and pulsing to a minimum.
Glad the brakes work tho..

Yeah, if I remember correctly, they're smooth with no problems... the only problem they had before was that the pads were worn and needed to be replaced, they were fine other than that... so I guess they wore pretty evenly since the new pads don't shake or anything.
