GE Nighthawk bulbs
I saw some GE Nighthawk bulbs at Walmart and couldn't find any info as to the brightness on the package so I e-mailed GE to see if they were much brighter than regular halogen bulbs. A regular 9005 is 1700 lumens. These super bright bulbs are only 1650 lumens. Less light than a regular halogen bulb. No wonder they don't put any info on the package.
I also checked Sylvania Silverstars and they are the same as halogens except the light is whiter. No more light, just a whiter color.
1700 lumens-65W for 9005 and 1000 lumens -55W for 9006
Here's the e-mail I got from GE:
Thank you for contacting GE Lighting. I am happy to assist you.
The 9005NH is a 65W bulb that has a lumen rating of 1695. Color
temperature is not reported for miniature bulbs. This bulb has a Right
Angle (P20d) base.
The 9006NH is a 55W bulb that has a lumen rating of 1000. Color
temperature is not reported for miniature bulbs. This bulb has a Right
Angle (P22d) base.
The difference in wattage and bases would mean that these bulbs are not
interchangeable. As always, when replacing a light bulb, be sure to
follow the guidelines specified by the fixture manufacturer for
wattage,
voltage, and bulb / base shape. GE Lighting does not maintain this
information, so you must obtain it directly from the fixture
manufacturer.
Sincerely,
Angi
