Default GF just got her mom's 2003, want to help her make it, her's.

Mostly was thinking of wheels and tires, her birthday is around the corner and all she wants is "stuff" for her new car. She doesn't care for anything too flashy, just would like anything that made the car personal and if possible perform it's best. I've read a little that the performace is basically already optomized but if I missed something let me know.
What size wheels work well, should we stick to stock (15') or move up to 16-17? What are some quality tires at a decent price(65-85)? We live in CA and have some rain now and then but that's about it as far as weather goes. I would love to improve the handling and comfort for her so she can enjoy it as much as possible. We would not want bigger rims if the ride comfort is going to be noticeably different, but if 16"s or 17"s ride just fine then we are all for it. I know I'm going in a bunch of directions at once, I apologize. Any help or info would be greatly appriciated.

I just bought a slightly older Corolla myself, and I've been doing similar research. I might go with slightly larger rims - say, 16s or 17s; no bigger. Just make sure the outside diameter and tread width remain the same as stock.

Also, check out SlickCar.Com. They have some good stuff for the Corolla.

Thanks man! From what I've been looking through, it seems like 17's would look real nice but I don't want to sacrifice ride quality or safety. I had a car with 19's and they were a huge pain in the *** they shredded tires left and right due to getting bent from hitting a pothole.

Most people go with 17's. There is a good amount of aftermarket now. There are some parts on rapidcustoms.com like the first and second gen altis led tail lights, a couple of different styles grille, altis projectors, clear headlights and black housing headlights. There is a bunch you can do. There is tons of information on 9thgencorolla.com.
