Corolla MatrixGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Matrix.
This is a discussion thread titled "2006 OBDII code P0607", within the Corolla Matrix forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
I also have a 2006 Toyota Corolla S; one morning while going to work the engine started normally and all of the sudden just shut off, Used a diagnostic tool and got the P0607 code. I wanted to take it to the stealership but thought about buying a used ECM and installing it myself, but realized that ECM must be registered with the Vehicles VIN#, so I wanted to take the Used ECM to the dealership and have it programed by them. Does anyone know if the whole car has to be present or can I just walk in to the dealership with the vehicles info and have them program it for me?

hi, how many miles are in your car? does it have a salvage title, as that would be the only thing that would exclude it from getting it repair under warranty. read my previous post and look at the TSB. if it in fact has no warranty, you will need to take the car with the used ecm installed so that they can program the vin # into it, you will be able to drive the car once the used ecm is installed and it will work fine but you will get a CEL light on for miss match vin#, they need the car as they program the ecm through the plug under your dash.
My ex-wife has a 2006 matrix and she just encountered the same symptoms as discussed here. Initially I was not able to retrieve any codes. After sitting overnight and getting the vehicle moved I was able to get code p0607. O fcourse the dealer wanted to charge us $95 to read and diagnose since "the vehicle is out of the 3 yr/36k warranty". Thank you for the TSB posted. I will get this to the dealer in the near future and have them fix this known problem, free of charge, under warranty. Thank you again for the great information, we really appreciate it!

i forgot to mention this, if you take your car to he dealer with the cel light on and they determine that the code is for the tsb, to my knowledge they will not charge you the diagnostic fee, they will only charge you if code p0607 does not show.
Took my wife down today to pick up her car from the dealership. Thanks to information and insight from this site, it was fixed free of charge including the tow bill to the dealer. Thank you once again for the heads up as the dealer was definitely not going to offer up this information!
