Check engine code P2716

Hey all!

My girlfriend has a 2005 Corolla S with 64K. Last week the check engine light came on. I have a scanner and read the code. It was P2716 (some kind of solenoid). I reset the light and it came back. I reset it again and it remained off for about 100 miles. Then it came back.

I took it to my favorite import repair place and they told me it was transmission related. They changed the ATF and reset the light. It came back on.

The light was reset and the car was driven for about 2 days and the light returned. When the light is on, it shift abruptly.

Now I'm off to the dealership with a car that's 4K past the powertrain warranty expiration. The dealer needs to evaluate the problem and they tell me that it may be a bad ECU that may still be under warranty?? I sure hope so as it's a heck of a lot cheaper than a new transmission or a transmission rebuild.

Anyone have a similar experience that I can take with me tomorrow?
