2007 corolla ??

We live on a shell road, it has a washboard surface on it......when we come down it there is a loud thump/clunk coming out of the right rear of the car.......it sounds like the shock is lose on the top or bottom.......and it does it more when there is 1 or 2 people in it............when the kids or grandkids are in the rear it is alot less noticable if at all ........that makes me think suspension..........any ideas out there?............Thanks

Your back mudflaps are hitting the ground.

LOL.............naw the flaps are not hitting..........it is a metalic clunk/clack........the sound is like the suspension is lose.........the noise is worse with less weight in it.........now I could see the flaps makeing that noise if we were three or four hundred lbs apiece.....had two of our dogs 100lbs plus, hay in the trunk and a deer on the roof.........

Check the exhaust system routing for interference or any loose components (hangers, ect.). You may have to check with a couple of people in the rear seats. Look for bare metal rubbing as well. Just a thought.

Also check to make sure the spare tire is cranked down tight and the jack is secure in the foam thingy.
