No they do sit on the studs (floating rotors). At times they will get stuck due to some rust or road grime. First make sure the caliper braket is off. Take one of the lug nuts and put it back on. Turn the wheel where you can hit the inside of the rotor with a rubber mallet and it should come off. Good Luck.
I had to go with a little more than a rubber mallet to get mine off, more like a BFH. They really do stick if you live someplace they use salt on the roads in the winter.
