Corolla MatrixGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Matrix.
This is a discussion thread titled "Carolla 2005 LE, battery", within the Corolla Matrix forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
my toyota carolla le 2005, has a dead battery (original) Delphi Freedom maintenance free.
I don't drive that much, that is why it died.
is there a battery that will keep the charge for a long time? I live in Queens, NY & I park in an open air car port.
i read "optima yellowtop" is good, which model would be good for my car?
also i took the battery out of the car. will this damage the car if does not have a battery installed?
I'm not knowledgeable about these things. i would appreciate your help.
thanks in advance.

Unless you are running some really heavy duty electronics like a half-dozen zillion-watt amps pushing 24-in woofers, you can probably get away with an Optima Red top. The Red top costs a little less and has a 3-year warranty vs. a 1-year for the Yellow top.
The advantage of the Yellow top is it puts out a lot more amps than the Red, but if your Corolla is just your basic transportation, the Red should do you fine.
All a man really needs for happiness in this world is a good woman, a faithful dog, and a big-a$$ed set of tires on his truck.

Most all batteries will last several years. Occasionally, you will run into a bad one. You might need to have your battery charged and checked to make sure the problem is the battery rather than something else causing it to run down before you buy a new one. The problem may not be the battery at all. Have it checked first to make sure.
