All a man really needs for happiness in this world is a good woman, a faithful dog, and a big-a$$ed set of tires on his truck.

So what's the deal with the 09's? When are they coming out? And what are the big changes from the 08 models? I ask because I'm thinking about buying a corolla and don't know if I should wait for the 09 or go with the 08.

Saw the '09 Monday when I was getting our Sienna oil change. They also had the '09 Matrix on the showroom floor, looked nice. The Corolla, it definitely has gotten bigger and more rounded, not sure the big deal really. Highway MPG was shown as 35(auto, standard Corolla) and if my memory serve me the '08 were at 38mpg highway. Can anyone give a rundown of why an '09 is better? The body style is new and it's heavier(I'm guessing), but isn't the drivetrain the same. I know they have side curtain airbags standard now, so that's a plus. Not sure what other biggie's though.

I haven't seen them yet, but i've heard the Sport model is pretty sweet. It has the 2.4L (camry) motor in it & is pretty fast.
Yeah, mpg is different from my 08. Mine was listed at 28/37 and it's a 5-speed. The auto's were 26/35 i think.
I think the drivetrain is the same, but you get the 5star safety & dual vvti I beleive. That's vvti on both the intake & exhaust manifolds.
I think they added the jbl w/ steering wheel controls & bluetooth as an option.
That's about it i think.
The 1.8 is a whole new engine. Hyd. lash adjusters, roller rockers, duel vvti, canister oil filter. Alot like the 5.7 engine.
This is good to know. Not sure I like the canister oil filter idea, most people with the 5.7 Tundra have nothing good to say about doing their own oil changes.

I saw a 09 Corolla today. Mid grade level. The exterior is nice and looks good but the interior is pathetic. It sad that Toyota has lowered itself to rental car status with this one...the outside was nice

The interior is no worse than the 08, probably better. It's a Corolla dude, not a Avalon. By the way, you can get it with leather and Nav. Look at the XRS, you arn't going to see many of those in the rental car fleet. Duel vvti, electronic power steering, 0W-20 oil, hyd. lash adjusters with roller rockers on the base engine. Side curtan air bags. Pretty cool for a rental car econo box.
