I feel you pain brother!!
I am happy with my car especially evertime I go fill-up and check my MPGs. Don't forget the XRS loses 5 mpg and I read somewhere the larger engine did not make a notiable difference. I haven't driven one however so you might want to check it out. I do wish I had the 4 wheel disc breaks that I beleive comes with the XRS. These are fun cars to drive and I think look very sharp!! Re-sale is very good on them also. We all know fuel will just keep climbing. Might want to sell your truck while you can still find some buyers. Later you might not be able to give it away.

Good luck
Bob

Thanks for the advice. I'm gritting my teeth against it, but like you said, gas prices are not going to come down any time soon. I just hate to loose the truck and will hate not driving a truck. Although, if I get something sporty, maybe I can grin and bear it. It'll come down to a coin flip... lol.

The wife and I have put close to 1k on our Corolla('04 with 17k miles) that we picked up exactly 1 week ago. First tank I calculated 37.5mpg, last tank I calculated 36.3mpg. That's with mixed, but mainly highway(including stop and go commuting, gotta love CA) doing 80mph. I smile every time I fill the car up, instead of the $77/tank for the Tundra this one is costing $35.

It would be hard to give up my truck for this Corolla though. Since I've got the truck paid off(and too many miles to sell it for what it's worth to me), I figure the car pays for itself in gas savings. So it's a win-win. Now, if you still owe money on the truck, that'd be a hard decision.

I'm actually surprised how peppy this little car is. And it's rolling resistance is so low, I let off the gas and it seems to coast forever. Very different from the truck. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

PapaPS, for those kids that wanna race you. You gotta tint the windows so they can't see the old people inside.

Story on my truck is: My dad leased the truck not knowing if he wanted to keep it or not. Well he doesnt, but I do. So the lease is up at the end of April, so I can either keep the truck or get something else. I would just hate to buy a Corolla and then gas prices suddenly hit record lows (yeah fat chance I know)... I guess I need to go drive one and see how I like it. Maybe its not as bad as I'm making it out to be. lol
