Default Highway wandering

Ok, I have now had the oportunity to drive this unit on the highway at 75 to 85 mph.........the way it wanders when there is a draft/crosswind is a issue.............we have the stock tires and I feel that an upgraded tire will/would cure "most" of this...........anybody upgraded and what are your results?...........Thanks...........

They're a little better at 90 mph, but i to had this problem but have since upgraded the tires.

I went with the Yokahama TRZ 205/60/15 on our CE. It came with 185/65/15 so we jumped up in size and it's helped quite a bit. It didn't totally cure the problem, but it's worth the upgrade. This new tire is rated for 80k miles & is extremely quiet & handles much better. As far as car tires are concerned, i think the yokahama is one of the best you can get.
If you have the LE model, your stock size is 195/65 i beleive. So you may want to step up a little more than i did to keep the speedo accurate.

My better half is the usual driver of this car.........and we have the S model ........hummmmm Think I'll see what size they are, because if I were to up it one size the speedo would be realllllll close to accurate as now it is about 1 1/2 mph off. I am not familar with the yocohamma.........is it compareable to Michlin? and if I may ........what sort of $ ?

The yokahama TRZ in a 205/60/15 costed me $81.95 each plus svc's. IMO, they are just as good as michelin.

I think michelin tires are seriously overrated.

My '09 tends to wander around at highway speed... or maybe it is tracking the road... I'm not really sure at this point. I kinda thought since mine has the 17's that it might be following the road. Could be that new fangled eletronic steering in these things...

Is there any different feeling/response with the new steering?

Drove our Corolla From Atl to Savannah a couple of weeks ago and thought I had a wheel coming loose. Think I will try bigger tires also. Felt like I was a pin ball.

I have not driven an older 'rolla, but the steering feels no different from anything else I've ever driven. In the XRS, I assume, has a tighter and more responsive steering than the other models of Corolla. I'm more worried about how it will hold up over the years. Guess I'll be first to find out...

There really isn't a ton you can do about the way these wander in the wind (or behind a semi). I went up to the 195's from the 185's on my Ce and it was a marginal improvement. This generation Corolla seems to have a higher profile than a lot of small cars. Combine that with a 2500lb curb weight and they can be a real handfull in the wind.

Now I am not too familiair with front wheel drives .....but could a person replace/install one of those front stabilizers.......or what ever it is that goes across the top of the engine compartment side to side/back..........? Would this help along with the tires too?........
