This is a discussion thread titled "2006 Corolla Horn Replacement", within the Corolla Matrix forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
I am thinking about swapping out the "meep-meep" horn on my 06 Corolla for something with a little more bark. Has anyone tried an aftermarket horn yet? If so, how much work is involved?
Jeff

I put the Wolo "Bad Boy" horn in my 2002 Corolla. Much better. It is a small, self-contained air horn with a decidedly European sound.
It wasn't hard to install. I just had to fashion a mounting bracket from a 6-inch piece of metal so it would mount in the old horn's location without interfereing with the hood closure. You are supposed to use a relay, but I just put a higher amp fuse for the horn circuit and it was good enough.
You can buy the Wolo Bad Boy from TS vendor RealTruck.com, and I think you can get a TS discount.

Thanks for the reply. I've seen this horn and read reviews that there was a bit of re-wiring. I guess the only hard part would to be fabricate the bracket.
Thanks,
Jeff
I took Cyberbillys advice and got one of those wolos also........nice difference.....there was no fabricating on our 07 took one off, other on, added the relay and
Just had to find a bolt with the right thread
Could anyone post up some pictures? I really want to do this as the Corolla's horn has to be the worst I've ever heard... "move please" as opposed to "GET THE F**K OUT OF MY WAY!!!"
I removed the old horn along with the bolt, placed new horn exactly there (where old one was) with a new bolt to hold it........mounted the relay(important) to the center brace in front of radiator........ran wire from relay to battery (as new horn draws more juice)....hooked it up ....tied wires up with zip ties and have been happy since.......on a 1 to 10 .......maybe a 2

I put these on mine. Louder than the wolo and much cheaper. I found places to mount them without having to do any drilling. It's a lot easier if you remove the grille. Only a couple of bolts at the top and it pops right out.
