We bought a 09 Corolla S back in april for my wife absolutely love it. My wife previously had a 93 Tercel which we sold after almost 190,000 miles.
We have made a couple of road trips in it and average about 39mpg around town we get 29-30 mpg driving like grandma.
Just passed 3,000 miles and hope to get 190,000 like the old tercel

Welcome to the forum!
My nephew has a 94 tercel with over 120k on it. It runs great, dont eat any oil at all, and still gets 40+ mpg most of the time.
I'd say you were only about half way there with the life expectancy of the tercel's. I know folks on this forum have upwards of 450k on the corolla. So you made a good choice, and i don't think it will let you down.
At 5k miles, we switched to ASL Amsoil 5w30 and it now has 10k on the oil & it still looks clean. I've replaced the oil filter three times now, and i'll go with the EAO amsoil filter at 20k this time so i won't have to change the filter at all for 15k/1 yr.
Looks like the mpg is going to be close to our 08 at 39 hiway & 30 city. We actually got 40mpg at 75 with ours. One guy even claims 51!! But he babies it and only went 55mph.
The post is here somewhere about it.
Lots of good info on this forum so stick around.
