Default Automatic tranny fluid return line, top or bottom of radiator?

Which is the correct FITTING for an '08 Corolla 1.8l automatic tranny w/OD fluid RETURN LINE, TOP OR BOTTOM on the right side of the radiator?? I have searched and have found only 1 thread that said it is the BOTTOM fitting but have been told by others it is the top. Tracing the lines from the radiator to the tranny, one line goes right above the tranny oil pan and the other higher up the tranny body if this helps to determines the correct radiator to tranny fluid return line?

If you're trying to install an inline filter, it doesn't matter which line you use but some filters are directional, so you should double check the flow direction. I'm pretty sure the bottom line is the return.

Thumbs up Re: Automatic tranny fluid return line, top or bottom of radiator?

Thank you, thumbster! T-IV fluid at $8 + a quart necessitates a hit and score on first time installation of tranny cooler plumbed in series with the stock in-radiator tranny cooler. Mockup of cooler and brackets already done and all that is required is determining the correct length of hoses connecting the stock cooler OUT PORT>IN PORT auxiliary cooler>OUT PORT auxiliary cooler>IN HARDLINE to tranny. This is a DERALE COOLER, Plate & Fin. I appreciate your help and well worth my initial forum membership fee!
