99 corolla starting click!!!!
Hey guys I have a 99 corolla and when I go to start it periodically I get a click.....I did a search and there is others with the problem, but there is many different solutions. I am just wondering if I should have the starter rebuilt or what? Some times I get a click 5 times before it actually will start. Other times it start perfect.......I have had the starter get suck on of a minute or two...I then got in the car and sped up the engine and it unstuck....this is why I think it is the starter. Anyone have any suggestions or help??? Oh I have 128000 miles on the original starter
The battery is about 4 years old!! Everything else is stock and original

My guess is the starter solenoid is going bad rather than the whole starter.

Then you'll probably have to replace the whole thing.

Re: 99 corolla starting click!!!!
The Starter contacts could just be worn out, the whole starter itself could be fine. If the contacts are all the way worn through that could cause the starter it stick on. Its worth checking since it is such and cheaper fix than replacing a whole starter

Re: 99 corolla starting click!!!!
My 94 tercel did that once. I think one of the "brushes" on the starter went bad, and when that one was up for starting the car, it wouldnt. After a few turns a good brush kicked in and it started. I had pep boys replace it, forget how much, but less than $300 I think.
