Default '98 Corolla; questions! Please help!

Actually, this is a four question post.

One: Chilton apparently only made manuals up to '97 for Corolla, or so Napa tells me. I have a '98. Are they similar enough that I can buy the manual?

Two: I believe the motor on my heater fan is dead. Is it a difficult thing to replace? I can buy a fan+motor from a salvage place for $30.

Three: My front right blinker light oddly won't turn on with my headlights, but it does work as a blinker. Is there a wire loose I need to plug in?

Four: If you replace the dashboard gauges, does the speedometer reading change? I'm positive mine was replaced (I have the rear defrost/left blinker turning on problem), and I bought the car with supposedly 70,000+ miles on it.

I'm curious...did you run a VIN check from CarFax (or comparable service) before purchasing your used Corolla? If not, it might still be worth it to you to give you the vehicle history, if not just "piece of mind". Last I checked it was $25 for a single report or $30 for a 30-day unlimited use.

I have a '97 and can tell you they are completely different body styles. Mine is the '93 - '97, you have '98 - '02. Many mechanical parts are very likely similar. The dashboard and its layout is definitely different.

The guy at NAPA might be right. Wow, I could fine one either for your year range on amazon and a couple of online auto part warehouses.

Is your odometer analog or digital?
