Default Front pad hardware

I just replaced my front brake pads on my 2001 corolla. I decided to go with some aftermarket ceramic from Autozone, because I have used them before on other vehicles with great success. I replaced the original hardware that clips on the mounting plate that holds the pads or also known as pad support plates. When I compared them side by side with my originals they were identical. My question is when I replaced the pads in the new hardware, I had to very gently tap one end of them in with a rubber mallet to get them in securly. I called the manufacture and they said that would be fine, because I want a secure fit to miniminze vibration. When I tried it with the original hardware they fit snug, but not quite as tight (looked very old and wore out). Is this normal because the new hardware kit is new and has more tenison than the orginals did, which has 98,000 miles on them and has had at least 3 different set of pads installed in them. And if so are use supposed to lube those support plates, I've never done it before, but some people on the internet videos say yes and some don't. Any information would be greatly appreciated, just don't won't any type of brake failure - I have driven the vehicle around 100 miles since the change and don't smell any brakes burning, nor any type of grabbing or pulling when I apply the brakes, they acutally stop great.
