Corolla MatrixGeneral discussion forum for the Toyota Corolla and Toyota Matrix.
This is a discussion thread titled "How to add/Corolla fog lamp wiring diagram", within the Corolla Matrix forum, part of the Cars & Vans Forums category.
Does anyone know where I could get a hold of a 2004 diagram of the fog lamp wiring? My buddy recently purchased a Corolla CE w/o the fog lamps and we are looking into adding them. It looks like the connectors are there under the bumper all we need are the switch, fog lamp assemblies, bulb and pig tails. If anyone has experience on this please share.
Thank you!

Check that the bumper is the same for a non-fog light car as for a factory installed set up.
I have read in some Camry forums the bumber is different on that model. Even if you purchase factory foglamps, the non-foglamp bumper is not meant to ever have lights installed.
Thanks guys! Once again proof positive that it pays to be a member in a site full of helpful people.
nhparrot,
Way to go on the diagram!
tundrabrad,
I went to the local dealer a few hours ago and looked under to find the same connectors on my buddy's car are the same as the ones on the dealer car with lamps. I think it was the s-model. His car has the black plastic clip-on covers. Hopefully it will not be a problem.
The only problem I see is the switch. It is integrated into the headlamp/turn signal lever.
The lever, as per my dealer is $167 including the switch.
I've seen pictures of the Matrix with a seperate switch on the dash like our tundras. I wonder if I can wire something like that. Could you guys advice?
I'm sure I can wire/splice to the matrix switch.
nhparrot,
Would you happen to have the matrix's diagram lying around?
I would luv it if I could have the same setup as my Tundra, seperate fog lamp switch on with the turn signals and with high and low beam.
Thank you very much guys! I appreciate your help. I'll do more research and with your help I hope to get this done soon. The dealer will charge $700 parts and installed.
We hope to do it for a little less.
Once we get all my ducks in a row and start I'll take pictures and prepare a write up for revision and approval by the experts in here.

BT,
After a small problem with my Body ECU ($500) having to be replaced due to problems with the fogs, I went with a Hella Wire Harness http://www.rallylights.com/hella/wiring_harnesses.asp it was like $30 shipped and has the switch, relay, etc. You can hook this up real easy and either take your factory light connectors and splice them or pick up new ones that fit your factory bulb. I wired mine to one of the "factory" tundra switches just because I liked it in the dash. If you want REAL NICE extra lighting from fogs get these http://www.rallylights.com/hella/Micro_DE.asp they are probably the best fogs I have ever used (they come with the harness!)(check my Photos and look at the front strip picture you'll see them in my lower grill) All you need to do is take that black cap and cut a 2 1/2" hole in the correct location. These things blow away all the factory fogs I've ever seen. Yes the trim ring is Black(not blue like in the photo)
I just mounted a set on my Moms Camry. Took a piece of stainless steel and mounted it onto the "factory" steel bumper to extend a tab to where I wanted them mounted. used a hole saw and cut a 2 1/2" hole in the bumper where the factory ones go an placed just the edge through the hole. Looks great works awesome. We have the same fogs on my Corolla, Dad's Chevy Express Van, Sisters Intrepid, Brother in laws CRV, and 5 other friends cars. Everybody loves the extra light they provide. These are the same light that BMW and Mercedes are using in there cars and trucks. Look at the new ones and notice the small 2" round lenses in the bumpers. http://byo.bmwusa.com/configurator/c...=XAB40BMC141A0

Hmmmmm.....we had been thinking all along Toyota original but what the heck! If I can get the parts at a much bigger discount from $700, I'll have no problem. My only question is the bulb harness. I was looking at my tundra last night and it looks nothing like the corolla set up.
The corolla has a connector harness close to where the fogs would go. I was pulling on them a little to see the reach and it would seem to be long enough to connect with the bulb assembly if that is the way it's setup. Or, maybe the bulb harness/assembly connects to the existing harness, a pigtail harness type being attached to the bulb.
I did inquire with Steve G. and he did say there was no pigtail. So, it might be just attached to the bulb assembly.
Need a little more research and advice. we are leaning heavily to making this a seperate switch from the headlamp/turnsignal stalk.
Thanks guys!

I just added factory foglights to a 04DC the other day. I used the fog light switch off a 02 Tundra and wired it right in. plugged in the fog light relay, extended(untaped) the wiring and plugged the foglights in. Easy as 1,2,3.The hardest part is running the wires to meet the original wiring to activate the foglight relay.
The wiring you see in your corrolla should reach far enough and plug directly into your foglamps, no pigtail necessary. You could use any ON/OFF switch, wired properly to turn them on and off at your control. The built in switch is not cost effective to warrant buying another combo switch assy.

Poooyyyfect! Just the reassurance I needed. We'll need to look at the stock wire harness and determine power and ground. I'd like to loop the power to the dimmer to turn the fogs on at will (and so they don't go off with the high beams, just like the Tundra. We're also working on a on a switch for the DRLs being on and off. I've seen on other sites where they've done that. I don't like them my buddy and my mom (she has a corolla too) do!
Mustang67408, do you have any pics of the project? I'm sure the install will be the same as far as relays and stuff. Send me a PM with the particular if you wouldn't mind, unless you want to post here!
Thanks!
PS: Yes! Most definetly the fog lamp switch on the corolla is on the head lamp/turn signal stock and that thing runs $168 or so brand new! The good thing is the corollas do have a blank switch hole for an insert.

Thanks for the wiring diagram. The lights are not here yet. Is the token holder next to the security system the place to put the switch if not buying the new stalk switch?
Hi everybody, I have a 2006 Corolla I am trying to install, I can't find a wiring diagram either, I paid my 25.00 to join this forum and it tells me:

I dont know why your having problems, maybe a MOD can answer that. Are you browser cookies enabled?
Here is a diagram of the 06 corolla fog light system you requested.
