I've only seen the Fit in printed material, anyone seen a real one to compare the cargo area to what the Matrix will hold? What about driver comfort?
I am really considering going to something different for our courier vehicles, the Matrix have not been all that great. Fuel pumps should not be going at 60-70K and they've cost a ton to replace ($800-900).
The opposite has been true of our Corolla's...but they just don't hold enough cargo!

MATRIX HOLDS WAY MORE THAN THE HONDA FIT! Matrix is a mid-size Sports wagon. The Honda Fit, is #$%! J/K. The Honda Fit is compared to the New Toyota Yaris, Which is a Compact Vehicle. In other words, A child might want to drive that small $%^ thing.
Yaris Lift back-9.32 [2]
Matrix(Seats up/Seats down)-21.8/53.2
Honda Fit(Seats Up/Seats Down)-21.3 / 41.9
Get the Matrix.

Ah...OK...in between all those funny symbols you write...it appears to me the measurements of the FIT cargo area are much closer to that of the Matrix and way more than the Yaris. Next will be to actually see one of these creatures. As I said, the Matrix has really not impressed me for reliability and in our business one day lost to the dealer is financially disastrous!

I believe that from '03 to '05 there was a change in fuel pumps on both vehicles. My '03 Corolla's have a different unit from the '05 Matirx's.
Has no one else had Matrix fuel pump issues? We tend to run the vehicle until the tanks are pretty dry 250-311 miles a day with a stiff prairie headwind (both out and back my drivers tell me ) at times. This empty tank supposedly heats up the fuel pump and has been blamed for their failure. Sound like bull-pucky to you?

When I first read your post about the fuel pump the first thing that came to mind was running them dry, but I said naw, no one drives a fuel injected vehicle fuel pump dry/low! Definitely not a good idea to run the tank low as the return fuel is also used to keep the fuel pump cool.

We run them low, to the point that we put 10-10.5 gal. in to fill upon return to home base. In many cases, there's no where to fill up along the way either.
Now, having 2-3 gallons in the tank isn't enough to keep the fuel pump "cool"? Then I say it's a poor design!
The mpg's on these Matrix cars are below that of the Corolla's as well...by as much as 5 mpg. or 18%! (27 vs. 32 mpg) Some can be traced to the drivers and their habits. Some is due to the higher profile styling of the Matrix - in the prairie winds we have out here.
I think I have to look at that Fit to see how it compares and whether it can hold the load!

No reputable Scion dealers in the region; however, the van has intrigued me, but the boxy nature is a bad idea with the pararie winds and I understand that a cruise control is not an option. ??
We carry medical supplies: boxes of tp, incontinent pads, lab samples, (in special coolers) X-rays, SAD lighting, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments and supplies, resuscitation Annie, office supplies, etc...

Saw the Fit today...it will work great for courier vehicles. Plenty of transport space in the back with the seats down and an amazing amount of leg-room for a person over 6 feet tall.
A little low to the ground, but the side-air bags are an improvement over the Matrix and so is the one piece wheels. We are always losing Matrix hubcaps and they are very $$$ to replace! The Sport model will cost about the same or less than the base model Matrix's we've been buying.
Now, can the dealer come up with three white ones by June or August! ??
AND...
Will they want sticker or discount it a little?

I can't imagine an alloy without center cap. How can you balance a wheel without the centerbore?
Perhaps low end Fit will have wheel covers secured by lugs like typical Hondas.
Fits are only build in Japan,China, Thailand and Brazil. It's almost at the end of its model year. Honda may produce the next gen. Fit in US (very likely due to high fuel price).
OK...how can I make this clearer...we have the tires rotated on our vehicles every 8-9K, translates to every other oil change. That adds up to about twice a month that the vehicles tires and hubcaps are removed. This in turn wears on the part and the tabs that hold the hubs on break and the hubs fall off, etc...
Rather than run with black ugly wheels w/o hubcaps, which looks bad as these cars are painted for advertaing purposes...we want to use alloy wheels that will not fall apart under the conditions.
I will write the RFP for new vehicles to include alloy wheels along with our other requirements like: auto-tranny, locks and windows; white exterior; AC and cold weather pkg.
The Sport model Fit has alloy wheels while the basic Matrix we've been buying does not...yet the price looks to be similar.
