- pop off the armrest on the door carefully by prying and pulling it up, there will be clips holding it in place; then remove the 2 screws behind the arm rest
- remove the mirror interior cover, the triangle piece, it pops off also
- remove the screw behind the door opening handle and slightly push the handle cousing toward the back (or front?) of the car and try to pull it out slightly, you will see a wire rod attached to it, you will need to pry the clip off the wire end so you can pull out (up) the wire from the handle cradle
- remove the visible "screw" head clips from the door panel and pull the door panel away from the door; there are a bunch of clips on the bottom of the panel.
- once the door panel is loose, pull it straight up to loosen from the lip holding it to the door right at the bottom of your window (top of the door panel)
- unplug the harness from your door power lock/window switch
That should do it.
The speaker is riveted to the door, you will need to drill out the rivets if removing the speakers.
Thank you for that. As per your instructions I was able to remove the door very easy. Got the speakers out. And have put the new speakers in.
One problem that I do have is that the speakers are a bit to small for the hole that was there for the factory speakers. I have made a wood plate to hold them on and mounted them on the inside of the door. Is there a better way to do this? Speakers are Xplod XSGF1631X for the frount speakers and XSGT6037X for the rear.
Making a wooden mounting plate is the most practical way to go. I’ve seen people make plywood mounting templates from ¾” or 1” stock, using a jigsaw to cut them out. This is useful if you have premium speakers that have a magnet that protrudes more in the back, it helps to mount them further from the door, so the magnet would not hit the glass when it’s being rolled down.
I also have Xplode speakers like you; I used 6” x 9” in the back, but had to do some cutting in the back to fit them. I used the back speaker mounting black plastic plates to mount the replacements in the front doors; it worked out for me.
Yes, the black plastic mounting plates from the round rear deck speakers...
I used them to mount in the front doors with same size replacement speakers.
I also reused the front door black plastic speaker dirt/rain covers, and mounted them behind the speakers
Hello Everyone,
This is my first visit to this site. I need some help in determining how to remove the door panel on a 2001 Celica. My door lock solenoid has quit working and I would also like to replace the factory speakers while I am in there. Additionally, can anyone advise as to how to remove the rear seat panels so as to get at the rear rear speakers?

Thanks for your help
Steps 1-11 in the REMO.PDF should get you to the rear speakers in your 01 celica
The DISA.PDF is for the front door.

The instructions for the 2002 corolla were great, but it doesn't work for me because I have a manual roll-up window. How can i get the panel off in this case?

They should work for you. The instruction for non power windows is in the same PDF.
Step 1 tells you how to remove the window crank handle for a non power window.
Step 7 shows what on the door panel that needs to be removed for a non power window
Step 15 shows how to remove a non power window regulator
Step 16 shows how to remove non power door lock
What exactly are you after?

I thought that was for the Celica. I'm talking about a '02 Corolla, unless it works basically the same.
