I just bought a new fob for my 2005 Corolla and don't know how to program it. I don't have my owners manual so I can't look it up in there. How do I go about doing this? I called Toyota's 800 number and they told me it had to be programmed at a dealer. I can't believe that would be true, is it?
I tried a few things I found on the web and gave up. Apparently Toyota doesn't want this secret out so I called my Toyota Sales guy and he hooked me up with free programming of my fob and key. It doesn't cost them anything but a few minutes to program it and it makes customers like me extra happy and makes me want to buy another car from him in the future.
Thanks Toyota sales guy
Start with the key out of the ignition. Open the driver door (all other doors are closed). Driver door is unlocked (other doors don’t matter).
Perform these steps within 5 seconds
Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) Pull key out

Close, then open the drivers door.
Close, then open the drivers door.
Insert the key into the ignition (don’t turn it) and pull it out.
Perform these steps within 40 seconds

Close, then open the drivers door.
Insert the key into the ignition and leave in the ignition.
Close the drivers door
Turn the ignition to ON (as far as you can go without cranking the engine), then back to off .
Remove the key from the ignition.
Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should lock then unlock automatically indicating successful entry into programming mode. Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.
Perform these steps within 40 seconds
Press the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 1.5 seconds
Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, press the lock button by itself and hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock then unlock once indicating successful programming. If the door locks cycle twice, repeat steps 6a and 6b as the remote was not accepted.
Will this programming work for any toyota key fob. I bought an 05 corolla le from a dealer and he gave a used fob that needs programming. This fob came from who knows where and how can I tell if it is even for a corolla? I highly suspect that its for a camry like the one for my 99 camry le. It looks very similar. Where can verify if I need a different fob or if the one I have will work.
