Default Cruise Control upgrade?

Anybody know what all must be installed to put in an OEM cruise control on a 2006 Corolla?

I just installed one on my 2007 Corolla CE. All you have to do is cut a rectangle hole on the lower right side of your steerling wheel plastic and install the handle switch with 2 provided mounting screws. You have to take the airbag off for installation.

The later half year 2004 and later models are Drive-by-wire. That means all you have to do is install the switch and plug in the connector in the steerling wheel receptacle behind the airbag. There is no physical throttle cable to run to the engine compartment.

Depends whether it is manual or automatic. The manual has one extra wire to run to the clutch limit switch to disenge the Cruise when the clutch paddle is pressed.

If you are looking for aftermarket brand, use Rostra 250-1768; for manual, it is 250-1771.

It took me a little over one hour to install. Cuting a neat rectangular hole takes the most time. Toyata dealers cost $90x2 plus tax and shop fee just for the installation.

Hi hancydan & lakeport233

I also have a 2007 Corolla CE. Where did you buy the cruise control switch from? I called 'www.thecruisecontrol.com' and they want $150.oo for a Rostra 250-1768. A local dealer is only charging me $210.oo including assembly and parts.
And More over is there any thing else to switch it 'on' on a CE model without a cruise control? It would surprise me that by adding only the cruise control switch ... it is going to work.I was told by ACDELCO rep that I may need some other module to curise control to work but he was not sure. Acdelco part no D1919E {#88974274 menstioned in this forum is designed for Pontiac Vibe.Pls let me know if I can use it on 07 corolla CE Automatic

Since you got a 2007 CE as me, the installation is the same as what I went through. I know nothing of the AC Delco part (D1919E) since I cannot get any picture from any web site. I did not want to chance it.

I bought the Rostra 250-1768. Yes, I paid $130 for it, and Yes, there is nothing else to buy. It is Drive By Wire, there is NO Module to install. Just look at my previous post for detail. The trickiest (hardest) part is to cut the rectanglular hole on the right side of the steerling wheel cover. The switch is on the Cruise Control arm itself.

Go to the dealer and take a look at the other Corolla Cruise Control. It even lit up the CRUISE light in your dash panel. PM me if you need more help.

Yes, but it is more complicated since that year model id NOT Drive By Wire; that means the computer does not directly control the throttle.

So you have to add more than just the cruise control switch. It requires Cruise Control Module, throttle cable, and more.

I'm gonna try to get switch from a salvage yard, which toy models and years would have the same switch? I got one from a 1999 toy camry, is that the same?
