Default Turtle wax ICE vs other waxes for my Tundra ?

Anybody got any opinions on ICE vs other waxes before i decide to go out and try the ICE i was wondering if anyone has used it and there thoughts or any other wax if better. I have heard nothing but good things about ICE so any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I use the Collinite Insulator Wax #845. It last a LONG time. I waxed my truck and it lasted about 6 months. Note where I am from, South Florida. All waxes break down in heat, sunlight, water, dirt, and soaps. South Florida has lots of sun, hotter then hell, rains everyday, I am in a city and do some off roading in the glades, and wash after every off roading adventure. I used the Mothers system, steps 1 and 2, to get all the old wax and crap off then you have a clean surface to put your wax on. Plan your wax dates. Spring and late fall in my opinion are the best. In the summer it is to hot to be waxing a truck, even a car for that matter. And in the winter it is too cold(except for us in the south).

I used the paste version of ICE in May. I also bought a spray bottle of the liquid ICE and sprayed lightly on the truck before i removed the paste application. I live in an apartment complex and work at a marine terminal in a dirty environment. The truck is always outside, not garage kept at all.

I love ICE. My truck is white and the water still beads and runs off...... dirt comes off very easily. Very wet shine.

I applied the paste as directed, it liquifies with a wet applicator and comes off very easily. leaving no residue on black plastic. Again I also sprayed the liquid on lightly before I cleaned the "paste" off.

The second time I used the product, i simply wwashed my truck and sprayed a little of the liquid on and buffed it off.

I like ICE, but somebody here suggested one other product for a more "wetter" shine so I may try that one time.

Well, I have always said that Duragloss is some of the best wax you can get. The pre-cleaner #652 and the Sealant #105 is a killer combo.

Ice isnt terrible, but if yall like ICE you will love duragloss soo much better.

I like my ICE, I would try the duragloss but my local autoparts stores (Advance Auto Parts) doesn't carry it. I know NAPA has it but that store is on the other side and town. I recently applied ICE paste WAX and it has held up for awhile now...water still beads up beautifully.

I have checked all over the place up here and only carquest sells DG products and they only have a few things. I ordered all of my DG stuff that I couldnt get locally from autokeek.net it is definately worth trying out for the price you really cant beat it.

Do the Duragloss products (652, 105 and AW) leave any residue on plastic, etc?

The Duragloss products do not stain trim or plastics. When I use AW I actually go over all the Trim on my truck.

I love ICE, I think it might be the best shine I've ever seen from a product from places like Walmart. We don't have a NAPA around here, so I had to order duragloss products online. I got them in two days and it was worth the wait. I won't use any other sealant again other than DG 105.

The ICE liquid claybar is crap as far as I'm concerned. It sounds like a great start, but it just didn't feel smooth afterwards like when I use a bar. I've heard a few people say ICE doesn't have good durability, but it seems to hold up pretty well on my moms car. Of course, she drives it once a week and keeps it in the garage. Give it a try if you want. You'll be able to judge if you like it better than anyone else would. But you'd save money with Duragloss products. How far is NAPA?

Just so you know, there seems to be two kinds of waxes. Canuba based and synthetic. What I learned was that you'll get a wetter look with canuba based waxes, but the wax won't stay on long. You get long duration (and maybe better protection?) from synthetics. I went with synthetic.

I use the Meguiar's cleaner and polish, followed up with Meguiar's NXT Generation Tech Wax. Both cars looked great and it has lasted really well, but it does leave the white residue around the trim. I think I'll try the ICE next time around - I hear a lot of good things about it.

There is one type also being forgotten, hybrid forumulas. NXT and ICE has both carnauba and synthetic in the mix (as well as some other stuff). They combine the best of both worlds such as looks, but durability suffers on both.

Carnauba provides the deep wet look famous on reds/blacks/blues, but dont last as long. Modern sealants are approaching the level of deep wetness of a good carnabua, with better durability. Often people put on a synthetic, then top with a carnauba to mix.

Mr Clean makes a product called the Magic eraser. When I bought my truck it came with residue on the trim. It takes it right off. It's actually used for cleaning in the kitchen and such, but it's pretty gentle. Give it a try, or you could always use painters tape for prevention

Hey Brandon - on the NXT, no disrespect but you're mistaken. It's not a blend. When I was figuring out which wax I wanted to start using, I remember reading that it was fully synthetic. After reading your post about it being a blend, I email'd Meguiar's...here's thier response...

***************************************
Thank you for taking the time to contact us at Meguiar’s.

Our NXT Tech Wax is a fully synthetic wax so it contains no carnauba wax or any other natural ingredients.

If you have anymore questions please feel free to contact me again.

Have a great day!

Ah, well guess I was wrong then. I just remember reading that when it first came out that it was a blend, that is what caused it's poor durability. NXT is actually one of the better looking waxes out there, but it lasts about 4wks on a daily driven car, so it's really no use for me.
